Not all LEGO compatible brands are made equal. I’ve discovered some horrible ones but also some really good quality ones that are definitely worth the savings. Glad to see another good one. I loooove that there is a light kit included. Do you think LEGO will ever start doing that?
@BevinsBricksWorld2 жыл бұрын
I agree there are definitely some very bad companies out there. As for Lego and lighting no I don't think they ever will do it. If they did do it it would probably be too expensive for anyone to afford it

Great review. I’m almost done with this set myself to review and a few more sets from Fun Whole actually. You’re exactly right…they are very much quality sets. I think sets like these are what’s making Lego “nervous” in terms of them looking in their rear view mirror and seeing the competition gaining a very small foothold, yet still a foothold at much cheaper prices. Once the quality is equal to Lego and the part supply starts getting larger, it’ll be a real race. It’ll take a while, but it won’t be near as long as it has been.

Hey Daryl, I have one of the sets on the way to me right now. I was going to get the Wood Cabin set but just before ordering it they came out with a new set, Lakeside Cabin Lodge (with lighting kit) for the same price….so I ordered that one instead. I’m looking forward to building it. I may get this one too. I could see an area by the waters edge with the Lego Old Fishing Shack, the Medieval Blacksmith Shop and this in a kind of “old village display. Cheers Bud from Canada🇨🇦👍

Ive built an "off brand" set with the bag issue like you mentioned here where you have 3 or 4 bags open and tons of bricks. I found it saved me time to sort the bricks into similar pieces when I dumped them out, then finding a tiny piece in a haystack was much easier. Sounds redundant but end the end was less frustrating!
@BevinsBricksWorld2 жыл бұрын
To me it was more of I thought it was odd to separate the bags and have them numbered just to have you open them all. It was like why bother numbering them differently if you got to open them all at the same time

I'm really starting to like some of these non lego sets. I just bought my first non lego set a couple months ago. It was a Mold King Christmas village house, it went along perfect with my lego Christmas houses.
@BevinsBricksWorld2 жыл бұрын
A lot of these off-brand companies are really stepping up their games. To me Lego needs to take note if they want to stay on top of things and lower their prices a little bit. Because they are slowly pricing themselves out of business and more and more people are going to start buying off brand products.

This one must be one of the best non-official Lego set with the look of something official, like an Ideas set, or if Lego decided to produce non-modular residential buildings. It's a pity it doesn't have the parts to enclose its back so it's not a "doll house". But still it has a nice detailed interior. And I wouldn't mind putting it somewhere on my city display.
@BevinsBricksWorld2 жыл бұрын
I've tried finding this on rebrickable and ideas and I can't find it. As I wondered if it was a stolen idea. As your right it looks like it could be an official set.

I did this one about a month ago, and I've been really pleased with it. The light up roof windows still give me some trouble, but nothing I can't work with. I do think it's somewhat "off" Lego scale, as far as minifigs go, but I'm going to try and scale mine down a bit. Probably do a video someday as well. Oh, and the Funwhole Lakeside Lodge is also really sweet! Thanks for this video!

I love this set too. But I found two or three other mistakes in the instructions. In fact, for the two roof dormers, they tell you to get three parts for the top but the instruction manual shows a fourth part that I could not find. It was very confusing. But all in all, it's a great kit.

@coppertopolo2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but those wireless connectors were an enormous pain. You have to put such incredible pressure on the metal from above to get it to connect with the copper circles that most of the time - there is NO connection and therefore - no light. The dormer windows were especially taxing and mine still don't work when I flick on the switch. I'd prefer wired connectors. Don't know how you can recommend the lighting part of the build - although the set itself IS beautiful.
@OldBrickTown2 жыл бұрын
I had enormous problems with the dormer windows as well - and a few other issues. When I reviewed the product, there was some inconsistencies - some of which was in this review as well. Did you also have issues with faucet not fitting properly in the bathroom sink?

Yeah the top windows are attached in a bad way. I didn't install mine as I felt it was actually to much light and not needed to finish it.

Competition is good, always has been. Some of the smaller Lego city sets are getting kind of cheap, the new hospital and the train station comes to mind. You almost need to buy 3 of each to make them actual buildings.
@BevinsBricksWorld2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, the smaller city sets to me are all garbage now. Lego has turned them into young kid sets for like 6 and less. They are gearing all the high dollar sets to adults now and focusing more on them.

Hello Daryl. I was so against buying anything not Lego for the longest time however once Lego increased their prices I started looking around. I recently found and purchased a set from Pantasy Bricks. They are a newer company that has licensed sets. Only non Lego brand I’ve found that is doing licensed sets. Build quality is top notch. Stickers are made by 3M. My only complaint would be some of the colors are not uniform. Especially black. Another company I found is Blue Brixx. I plan on buying from them as well. They have a lot of castle builds that they sell expansion sets for. I’m not advocating for non Lego brands but there are definitely some other brands that are worth checking out. I’ll always buy lego just not as much as usual. I’m more picky about what I purchase now. Great build video this is another set I intend on purchasing.
@BevinsBricksWorld2 жыл бұрын
I'm a bit of a snob myself but with the rising prices off brand are looking better and better to me. Blue brix has some amazing sets I totally agree and I've also seen patsy. They don't have a lot yet but what they do have looks great. Lego is slowly pricing themselves out of the market.
