Test riding a recently-restored 1995 Honda CR 250 (disguised in 1993-1994 cosmetics) at DNA MX Park in Saluda, SC. These bikes really hold up well to the test of time, watch the review for more info! My apologies for the camera going in and out of focus during the final segment, I think the trees behind me were confusing the autofocus, lesson learned haha!

So much better than 4 strokes. To be honest with you I'd rather go to a track full of electric bikes than 4 Strokes

I’ve been in love with the two stroke dirt bike ever since I rode a 1981 cr80 when I was a kid! I tried to embrace the 4 stroke but just can’t get into them. I bought a nice 94 cr250:this year😃

Yay! I am happy to see a long awaited review from you. I just recently rode a 1998 kx250 in mint condition and loved it so I was curious to get an idea how this bike rides. Thanks for the review!

The KX you rode has a little more modern feel to it. The CR is very narrow, but it also feels like you sit down in the seat a little more. The KX is wider but also flatter on top. I had a 95 KX 250 a few years back, very similar to the 98.

Thanks Andrew, we've been looking forward to it for a while and he did a great job with the restoration. I'm hoping we can do a review on his 125 this spring too!

Cool review!! I have several contemporary two stroke mx machines and have ridden most all makes and models, but I swear my trusty old 95 cr250 has them all beat in the engine department 😎

I would agree with you! I owned a 2017 Husqvarna 250 two stroke a few years ago and this old Honda engine is vastly more useable and probably just as fast. It would definitely put down better and more consistent laptimes.

Awesome bike Brian! Great review Mark. Liked subbed Georgia/Charles from Southern States Enduro Riders WOOHOO!(Only negatives, cam stability while riding was rough and loss of focus near end, although POV was about perfect :-)

The 94 was my favorite CR! ( I owned new 86,89,94,95 and 96) the 89 motor was the most powerful to me but the 94 was best all around. I’m buying a 94 in a couple weeks. Great vid!

Thank you!! It was a great bike. I had a 17 Husky 250 2T and this old Honda had a much more fun and usable powerband. Also I cant remember if we mentioned this in the review, my laps on that CR were extremely close to laps on my modern 450. Granted there were really no bumps on the track, but suspension is easy to upgrade. I have a Gold Valve in the shock of my 93 CR 125 and it is fantastic. You can also upgrade forks to the later 98-2008 twin chamber design with a little research. Mid 90s CRs are great bikes, I hope you enjoy it!!

Mark Swart thanks for your reply! I’ve just started researching the upgrades available to the suspension. I’m thrilled to get another 94 cr250 since it’s my all time favorite bike! I’m planning on racing some hare scrambles on this bike and want to upgrade the suspension the best I can get it. There’s no doubt 5hat those 90s CRs had awesome motors! I really enjoyed your video! Best wishes to your future!

@@55tmilam honestly for hare scrambles the stock old school springs may be fine. You could do a fork revalve or maybe gold valves, then just hit up the Race Tech spring calculator on their website for your best spring rate. I don't get a Race Tech kickback or anything but they seem to have really great suspension specs for older bikes

Mark Swart thanks man! I’ve been out of the game ( as far as owning a bike) for a long time and I’m looking forward to getting back on a bike but I’m really out of touch, especially since I will be on a vintage bike! The only thing I have going is I owned so many CRs back in the day. I’m looking for any feedback I can get. Btw where are you located? I think I may be close to you. ( I’m in Simpsonville SC ) I just noticed a track in a video of your that is close to me.Sincerely thank you sir!

I'm in SC near Columbia. If you are close definitely get in touch. And if you are just getting back into i6, I'd say ride it stock for a while just to see what you think. The one in that review was bone stock and on that track it was honestly fine. Just get her running solid and do the suspension as you go man!

I would do anything to detail your chest protector. I wear a lot of white gear, and that beige coating is making me uncomfortable.

Haha I finally broke down and bought a black one. That old white one cleans up okay, the problem is that I just didn't clean it that often!

The one in my video had just been redone by Millenium Technologies. They replated it to like new condition. They also had a really quick turnaround - you should look into it!
