Today, I take a look at "Mortal Kombat 2: Arcade Edition", a hack of the Sega 32X version of MK2, which introduces a lot of new welcome features, making it look, sound and play closer to the original arcade version.
A huge improvement over the original Sega 32X version and especially the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive port - this is what the 32X version should have been to begin with, and even though it's still missing some features (like Raiden's additional battle cries, Shao Kahn's death cry and the player character's victory images, instead using their versus portrait) it's worth checking out for the new additions (Liu Kang's bicycle kick, additional samples from Shao Kahn, although his taunt directed at the player is still incomplete, and the ability to weaken or "nerf" the AI). There's also a version made specially for Sega Everdrive users which includes the original arcade soundtrack.
