Retro Review , Radioshack R/C Sherman Tank

Today we take a look at the 1985 R/C Sherman from Radioshack

I think i recall if i remember at age 7 or 8 or maybe 9 years old either in 1985-1987, my dad's friend/ co-worker stopped by at my house on christmas eve or on christmas day and brought a wrapped box in a bag of gifts. My dad's friend told me it was for me, as a kid at that age i was happy, i opened the gift and the box and sure enough it was a tank with a remote control. What i remember was the silver barrel on the turret and seeing this video i now learned it was from Radio Shack, at the time of course i didn't care what Tony brand as i was so into playing with the tank. Seeing this video and other videos like this one i kind of second guess myself whether or not i had the 'Combat Tank' from Radio Shack or the 'Shernan Tank', but what i do remember well was that the remote control in this video of the 'Sherman Tank' was the one gifted by my dad's friend. The 'Combat Tank' Radio Shack model had a singular remote steering wheel controller, which i personally didn't like as i saw on another video on a different KZbin channel. Brought alot of memories, cool. Back in the late '80s and early '90s, i also had an RC race buggy which that too was cool. Nice review.

The tank originally came out in 1981.. they redesigned it in 86 adding the light and the gun noise. I got mine Christmas of 86. It went through whatever I threw at it, or so I want to remember it anyway 😁

That is super nice, Nikko is a great name in RC's, I have Nikko RC Dump truck also in that age range and still run and dump a full load of sand, it might be a little newer since it use a 9.6volt ni-cad pack in the truck, the radio takes also a 9 volt dry cell. I posted a video not to long ago of it, thanks for sharing

great to see you uploading r/c content again. This Sherman is sweet! I've seen it a few times on Ebay, but they were always missing their controller or weren't working. I've got some 1/18 WW2 action figures that would look great supporting (or attacking) this tank

thanks , i have a few more to film but i will try to put them in between other videos just to mix things up , i was watching a second tank that was in the box but the auction ended this morning with no bids , they wanted 39.99 for it with 1c shipping i can ask if they are planning on relisting it if you are interested

my interest in r/c vehicles comes and goes , its more of a seasonal thing , like in the winter when its too blasted cold to hang out outside il stay inside an buy rc cars , i guess rc season came early due to the pandemic , im not complaining though lol

@@PrinceofMacedonVlogs not a problem , i am running out of space too lol but normally il rotate the collection , keeping only the ones that have sentimental value and selling the rest , keeps a few places open to get something else later , but lately i have been on shopgoodwill.com and it is kind of addicting lol they have alot of great vintage rc cars and they sell CHEAP , i am kind of overrun in the garage , they should have R/c anonymous for vintage rc addicts lol

This second version has stronger motor for sure. I have the first version (1981) and its way slower than this one.
