Retro Tech - Eumig Mark S 712 D 8mm Film Projector

Testing my new Eumig Mark S 712 D 8mm Film Projector with a Super 8 print of Charlie Chaplin's City Lights.

Cool. My father bought the same projector in Amsterdam back in 1969 and we got extensive use of it over the years. Eventually it started having problems and the lamp burned out so it was retired to the garage. I just found one in excellent condition on eBay (it even had the box!) and I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival so I can check out our old family movies again!

Yep, very pleased to get the mention (even though I really didn't help out). I have a new (old) retro tech video coming out tomorrow that I'm particularly happy with. Normally I can just see the faults in everything I make, but this one seems to hang together well. Anyway, thanks again Harmy.

Re: the film catching fire, I wonder if it's possible to do something with LEDs to illuminate the film with much less heat. Perhaps there are bulbs available in the right format or perhaps you could just unscrew the bulb and place a LED in its place but power it separately.

i love these! have an eumig 610d myself. it can play 8mm and super 8 Too.but its a silent film projector. are you gonna use it or does it stil going to be a decoration? i use mine often beacause i collect the movies. hope you find something good to play On it:)

This is completely unrelated to the video however I'd really like to know, what is the highest quality version of the Despecialized edition. The highest I've found is 720p and I was wondering if you had done higher quality.

20GB 720p is the highest quality available - v3.0 will be 1080p but that's way in the future.

well, since 1931 film is not flammable anymore, it just melts the frame thats stuck and thats that. No huge fire as in Inglourious basterds, those were nitrate films, these are acetate films. So the fire extinguisher really isn't needed. also why your projector wont run at 24fps is because it uses rubberised discs instead of drivebelts. this rubber is old and hardened so the drive wheel from the motor slips. this happens at the top en bottom of the slider because those are the speeds it was mostly used at. anything inbetween can get you some better results. i have many eumig projector that have this drive system and they all stall as soon as the get warm. Dont get me wrong, i Love Eumig and have a vast collections of their devices. but this drive system wasn't made for the ages.
