Hey quick question! do you know the name of the effect that some pictures/videos have where there are small subtle lines through the entire video/shot? horizontal and im having a hard time to look up the name of that effect because i want to replicate it for a quick shot, and idk what its called so i cant google it to see how to do it in after effects or in premiere, your vid was very informative and nice but not exactly what i was looking for, do you know what im talking about?

as a little cherry on top I would recommend lowering saturation down to something 70-60% depending on your footage. The old cam-recorders didn't have the vibrant colours we have these days, it helps sell the effect even more. PS: This is how tutorials should be, thanks so much!

I tried this and added some scan lines to the video as well, i set them to lighten and lowered the opacity so that they were faint and...it made this already cool effect even cooler. Thanks for this one bud!

4:3 is cool, but the real aspect ratio of VHS (to digital approximate values, is 111:160 or 333x480 (in NTSC), and 335:576 or 335x576 (in PAL))

Just a few of things i'd do differently: 1.) I'm feeling like the glitch line going down the screen looks a little too overdone. Pause at 4:04 i THINK the glitch line has it so that those planks are split too far apart (the best way i can describe it) and shouldn't be as far away... or maybe it'd look like that if this were real 90s footage. 2.) If you REALLY want the VHS look you should also crop the footage so that it's in the square-like 4:3 aspect ratio which would REALLY give it that 1990s/2000s look! The 16:9 ratio thing didn't really exist until the 2010s and even movies in that aspect ratios has the thick black bars beneath the video feed on a tube TV. 3.) Instead of 4/22/2017, I'd probably do like 4/22/1997 or 4/22/2001 or something like that, just to make it more like footage from the late 90s or early 2000s. Just some things to think about.
