I was the only kid in my entire school that owned a Master System. Everyone else had an NES. I wouldn’t change a thing. Highly underrated system, which was technically superior to the NES. Loved this console, and still own and play it today.

Here in the UK it was more popular, probably about 50/50 NES and MS owners when at secondary school.

I had a master system and Transbot. Only reason i got it over a NES was Macys electronics department was selling only sega Master systems my parents had a Macys charge account. So thats what i got... I loved it. Never had to blow in sega cartridges to get them to work.

That is a good point that it had less mechanical issues thank the odd NES setup. Since it was more obscure I liked it more than Nes because I like having rare things even back in the 80s. Thanks

Great soccer is probably more expensive due to it being the only card that didnt get a re-release when Sega decided to discontinue the sega card. I gather its because it was supplanted by a sequel or expanded version

I only had cartridge games on the Sega Master system, I always wondered how to play those card games. Thank you SOOO MUCH for uploading this video. Not a big deal to you, but it is to me LOL. Now I can buy with confidence off auction sites and know my SMS can play the cards. I can't believe i never paid attention to that slot ... wait.. I better go home and look first before buying games off sites. I'm noticing "Card Input" in the video, and I really don't think mine had that.

Master system II was my first console but I did know about the cards on the Master System despite this. I must have read about them in magazines.

I had Spy VS Spy on Apple II (GS) and it was okay.

Sega should bring back the cards but expand them to have more graphics & double over as a memory card & disc combo that can play any Sega CD Saturn or dream cast game & as far as the new tech games for the current generations just make the new gen stuff downloadable & have the system cards help facilitate the DLC games for a new kind of experience... (Sega Andromeda)

You were brief, but more or less correct on why F-16 doesn't work on the Genesis (and it's the only official game as far as I know that doesn't). Essentially, the Genesis has the Master System CPU and sound chip on board, in addition to its own new CPU and sound chips. The sound chip can be used together with the new Genesis chip for more channels, and for Genesis games, the old Master System CPU has a new job of coordinating those 2. But because the old chips are both there, they're just used as they used to be for Master System games. The video chip, though, is brand new. The Master System's own chip was designed to be backwards compatible with the SG-1000 (as you mentioned) and the Genesis's was designed to be backwards compatible with the Master System. However, they only went back one step. The old SG-1000 graphics modes were gone, and F-16 was the only game that used that mode, and required more than 1KB of RAM for the CPU, which meant it wouldn't work on the SG-1000 either, since that was its limit.

Sega was hoping to brand their hardware as more of a computer instead of a game machine. That's why their package design theme with that black line grid looks so boring. ;) Thats the way i heard the story .... Is it true ?

The cards were made because they were CHEAPER than the cartridges. You probably should have looked into it a bit more before you finalised your video, that info is fairly easy to find

Antes de existir as Sega Card ou as Hucard, Mitsubishi plastic e Hudson soft, fixeron as Bee card para MSX. Por iso as hucard ( de hudson Soft) son tan parecidas as Sega Card ( de Mitsubishi plastic e Sega ) O Hang on saliu en Italia e Australia ( que eu saiba) en caixa , descoñezo se noutros lugares. Existe unha sega card EP que é regrabable e funciona en todas as master System, como tamén o fai o xogo xapones Woody pop Saúdos e bo xogo.
