I just took the plunge the other day and ended up with 3 separate installs: BC Remastered, Kobayashi Maru, and Legacy. The amount of crashing that happens on Kobayashi Maru is incredible... but it is where most of the unique ships have to be installed, so you have to put up with it. 2 things become immediately apparent: a) how impressive it's been that you can pump out so many videos despite that problem, and b) how amazing the work is from those modders that end up moving stuff over to BC Remastered.

@@danl7756 for KM Stability, it helps to disable several mutators (from what I find, disabling AI shuttle launch is a huge one, as there are a suprising number of erroneous carrier scripts), and having dependencies present is a must. Of late I have been tinkering with my KM install, with a goal to have a "clean" KM install next year (omitting mods with issues, tweaking scripts to fix issues, etc). It does take time, but there are a treasure trove of ships n mods to enjoy there, though RE will still be the better pick-up-and-play for quick matches. Still hadn't played enough of Legacy to form an opinion, though older BC mods (especially KUU) have caught my eye...🤣😂👍

The F gave one hell of a send off to the Prometheus at the end Also it makes sense to me that the individual pieces of multivector would each be weaker than the whole (but potentially more aggressive) not only for the reduced hull mass but i dont think each piece could generate as much shield or weapon power as when combined

Nice job! Obviously the Prometheus, being a prototype, is pretty much similar tech and power to the F, just without dual quantum launchers. I wonder what a Galaxy, escorted by 1 or 2 Prometheus class ships doing long range exploration, would be like. Quite a powerful trio of ships.
@lesigh1749Күн бұрын
its not close, no, the game is just bad. Very very bad. If the computer pilots a ship the ship becomes worthless, which is why the Prometheus is wrecked easily under computer control, and the Enterprise F is then wrecked easily under computer control.
@Tuning3434Күн бұрын
@@lesigh1749 'Easily' is quite an exaggeration. And seeing how hard the F alpha-striked the Prometheus in the last seconds of the battle, I doubt that this is the only outcome this battle could possibly yield. Nevertheless game AI is limited, It's a game that is 22 years (!) old, and based around a story mode with a Galaxy and later the USS Sovereign fighting against hords of Keldon's and Hybrid Keldon's. Story line difficulty is highly based on 'through enough shit at the wall' to challenge the human player, and in my memory it was pretty effective at it. All the other mods are based on coders trying to balance around the basic game behavior (although I honestly do not know to what extend Remastered improved on the base AI), and usually come down to the balance between alpha strike ability versus damage saturation of a ship.

I love the Enterprise-F! I think my favorite part, aside from the fact that the Odyssey class was a fan-made, in-game ship that actually made on-screen canon status, however briefly, is it's black detailing. To me, that ties it all the way back to the original Enterprise spacecraft from the 1970's. On the Odyssey, it's either just decorative or has something to do with its ablative armor. But on the Space Shuttle Orbiter called Enterprise, which was really just a prototype, it was a functional component to help manage and dissappate heat upon re-entry into Earth's atmosphere. Back to the video, this was an interesting mashup! The 1701-D lasted much longer than I expected in the first battle!

@MSR-1701Күн бұрын
@kavinskysmith4094 hmm, torps wouldn't have much coverage versatility as a phaser array (TNG Phaser Strips have much better coverage than TMP Turrets), though good point, the saucer underside doesn't have good coverage there (though generally the ventral secondary hull array helps cover) The dorsal phaser array does have two arrays behind the saucer latches that aren't usually hardpointed in BC (though many mods do), these do give good coverage, the Venture Class Nacelle strips *really* help👍😎😅

@@MSR-1701 yeah it would have been fun like to see the enterprise D with those, like jordi fitted the refit kits those ships got to her and as a good way to explain how it got so strong now and it wouldnt have required much dialogue change either, picard could have stopped and just asked about the condition of the new stardrive and how well it could fight and he could have answered with its from a dominion war era galaxy class cruiser that got all the updates after the Oddesey went down that they then had to fit the same refit kits to the saucer to get it off the planet IE the better maneuverability thing and that the warp core was generiously donated by worf from the enterprise E, after it was rammed into a dominion battlecruiser that was trying to invade DS9 that way you give the E fans a sense of closure, and mix and match the two ships, quite literally, and explain all the changes and why it moves so well now and what the heck happened to the E for all those fans who were just watching invainly for the hope that that would come back and with the torpedo launchers I was just thinking purely from a firepower reduncancy standpoint, IE if one goes down, you loose all of them while you could easily have two backup's on the side of the edges of the deflector like the excelsior class has just above it on theirs honestly though two pointed down like the phaser strip on the bottom would make more sense though IE like imagine, two small circular inner phaser strips around the keyhole raised section where the bridge is, ala an ambassador two single strips ontop of the main shuttlebay mounted horizontally and then two torpedo tubes pointed at a downward angle where the lower phaser strip is, in that half cut section down there, which with 2:52, would have blasted the F if they were there that way you preserve the look of the ship without making it seem weak, and add some redundancy to the firepower of the saucer and make it so the phasers, the smaller strips can still be firing while the main one charges for a more powerful shot plus you could even have a funny little accident where they cross the streams and it causes the phaser lance thing from all good things like the enterprise got it after all, just in a different way, that maybe data could have used to blast his way to the core of the cube, rather than flying it through there with maybe the two extra ambasador class strips on the lower half too which you could explain being there as the ship is ment to be in a reserve fleet at the fleet museum, and the whole point of fronteer day, was to actually suprise picard with the enterprise D and give it a temporary reactivation until the next ship in the enterprise lineage was ready that way she retires with dignity rather than the way she went out

I was working on a Galaxy enhanced mod where the builds underway at the end of the Dominion War were far enough to continue work integrated with experience with handling new construction techniques, refined power generation and distribution, and somewhat newer materials. Then the hard-drive suffered a logic error when I was backing up all my files. The newer Galaxy would fill out the service life as new designs would come to replace the class, completely or push serviceable vessels into backwater and secondary service. The latching system would be reworked to allow the saucer module aft torpedo launcher to fire aft while docked. A second dorsal launcher would replace VIP facilities forward of the main bridge. A single ventral act cargo bay would be replaced with an aft ventral secondary hull launcher, upgrading the Galaxy to five launchers normally suited to loads up to ten photon casings. The Captain's yaht is completely removed, from the design to support a modular weapons turret, accommodating either a quantum torpedo turret, or a rotary weapons system to independently target smaller threats. A tougher, reinforced hull allows for two forward phaser columns on either side of the primary hull, replacing the single rings, with augmented power feeds from upgraded impulse reactors, designed to power stronger saucer module shield generation. Twin superstructures are added to the dorsal surfaces of both warp engines. The lateral columns are repositioned to allow two parallel columns, to resemble Galaxy-X port/starboard banks. The single ventral band on reinforced secondary hull is replaced by two lateral columns. One to cover ventral forward, starboard, and aft. The other to cover forward, port, and aft. Finally, a backspine superstructure is added, giving the Galaxy-X enhanced impulse engines, but rather than an extension upward, shuttlebays 2 and 3 are replaced with a single aft shuttle bay, a dorsal aft phaser column running up to the docking umbilical hardpoints, and armor plating to sesitive sections of the secondary hull to protect the primary reactor core.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing a video delving into multi-vector assault mode again. I always wondered if it was balanced properly in this game but if you think about it logically it kind of makes sense why the mode isn't super useful in EVERY situation because you're dividing up your overall power output which weakens your offensive and defensive potential. This is why the Enterprise D is still considered to be a very powerful ship as it seemingly could output a very high amount of energy due to its size and power source. So realistically, the best showing for a multi-vector assault mode would be if you're able to quickly surround and overwhelm the defenses of 1 ship while taking minimal damage yourself vs separating and taking on multiple ships. If you're unable to quickly overwhelm a single ship then you're pieces are just going to be picked off one by one making you weaker than if you'd just fought combined. This is why I think a good multi-vector assault mode needs to split into smaller ships that have just incredible offensive output (preferably more than they would have while combined with additional torpedo launchers and phasers that they wouldn't be able to employ all at once while combined) which is not really something we've seen from the Prometheus in it's limited showings.
@Renserin18 сағат бұрын
I think the whole reason the Prometheus doesn't take full advantage of Multi-Vector is exactly because it was a prototype. It was a test-bed for the entire concept, and once that was proven, it was left for the vessels that follow, to perfect it. That's probably why the Hestia Class seems like such an improvement.

This was a pretty cool video but it felt like Voyager wasn't able to do anything at all. I think a better showcase for this matchup would be the Prometheus and the RBG Galaxy Class vs the Enterprise F as they'd all have quantum torpedoes and thus would ultimately all have a chance of taking the others out. Plus, I feel like the enemy AI would fair a better chance only needing to go after 2 ships vs 3. My prediction would be that the end results might end up very similar to this but I don't think the matches would take as long and depending on how easily the Enterprise F could take out the RBG Galaxy Class it MIGHT come out on top.

The biggest practical problem that MVAM would face in a 'realistic' setting is that for each craft you're making you are either adding a ton of mass in armor that is wasteful when the ship is whole or you're leaving massive unarmored gaps. The smaller ships will be at best as good as a ship their size can be while the combined ship will have lots and lots of room wasted protecting areas that aren't exposed to fire. Of course, one upside is a combined MVAM should be pretty ludicrously resilient as each section is fully functional independent of the others. Of course the specs of most Starfleet ships include vast areas of basically free space so the setting logic on mass efficiency is already real wonky.

While the Prometheus-class is a dedicated warship, it's not a large warship, nor a particularly powerful one compared to what Starfleet COULD build. It's only about one third of the Odyssey-class' length, and is significantly less bulky. That means way less space for combat systems. So while the Prometheus would probably rip the guts out of any other contemporary Federation ship in its own size-range (or even slightly larger), it's not really surprising that it lost to a monster like the Enterprise-F in the first match-up.

It needs to be said this game is famously bad at AI operation. Basically any ship the AI operates is halved in effectiveness immediately by an utterly useless AI.

It makes me hope one day for a good successor to Bridge Commander that allows for PvP (with as minimal vulnerability to hackers as possible, I suppose). Star Trek Online has PvP, but it's pretty easy for one player or another to make a ship that blows up the other in a single volley, even if they're of the same tier. Bridge Commander mechanics to help provide more balance would be good.

@@lesigh1749 yarp... Supergoat's QB Plus tries to (and generally helps) improve the AI, though generally BC's AI has hard limitations in its present AI configuration. Here is hoping BCMM has improved AI...🤔😅

Half the time the computer just sits there tanking fire and not even shooting back

@Gandalf1232 sadly a true statement. One anomaly of BC AI is that if a system property is not present on the Hardpoint script (example, if a ship has Pulse/turret projectiles but no Torpedo System Property), the AI just flies around almost 100% of the time without using weapons

@@Gandalf1232 indeed, and when a shield goes down on one arc it lacks the coding to then turn the ship to guard that face.

Star trek timeline and tech levels are so unrealistic these days. The more complex technology becomes the longer it takes to devellope.

or if going off the proper timeline the F was launched in 2409

Seeing Voyager turn hard after the torpedo volley made me smile. Never liked her

without watching. i predict the F will win.

So I am under the impression the the Enterprise F has what is basically a Defiant class scout in its rear. So I would definitely send it out to assist in the fighting.

IMO the only thing good to come out of the Picard series was the canonization of the F. Even if it was done dirty by only being shown during its decommissioning. 🫤
