I get the Aztec Effect by laying a Spec Map (In pinks and blues) under Main Texture Map and setting it to do the reflection of light. And yes, the New Warp Scale is an exponential one, which means the higher the warp factor the bigger the increase in speed, very different than the Old Warp Scale!

In the 78 years between Star Trek TOS and TNG, they must have used 'trans warp' and redid the warp scale to fit it. So it was a failure in 2286, but by the 2300s is was not. Head canon.

@joonaa275128 күн бұрын
What’s your opinion on the theory that the vertical warp core of the refit Constitution class was a design flaw that contributed to the early retirement of said class? The pre-refit Connie had a horizontal warp core hidden safely within the secondary hull, but after the refit, it had to go through the thin neck of the ship, making that an extremely vulnerable spot if attacked - which is precisely how Khan overpowers the Enterprise in ST2. I’m betting Khan’s attack was not the first instance where this flaw became apparent, and this is why the Enterprise had been demoted to a cadet training ship so soon after its state-of-the-art refit. Later designs like the Excelsior had a thicker neck to compensate for said flaw, or were generally large enough to encase a vertical core within the secondary hull.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios28 күн бұрын
It's a theory that doesn't hold water or make any sense whatsoever! First off the Constitution Class refit was not retired early at all... It was a design that lasted until the Battle of Wolf 359 (Canon) so Im not sure where anyone would get that idea... Second, Khan did NOT attack the neck of the ship to disable it, he attacked the Secondary Hull... Only later, by chance, is the neck hit during the Battle in the Mutara Nebula, so there's nothing there either! Lastly, the reason the Enterprise was demoted to a cadet Training Vessel was just down to the age of her Spaceframe and how she was refit... She was the only starship of the Original Constitution Class to recieve such a refit and her space frame was almost 30 years old at the time of said refit. All other Connies (and there were many, See Charts in ST6) were constructed from the ground up, with full new and intact spaceframes, rather than the pieced together one of the Enterprise... So in closing, that theory is just nuts and delusional LOL Additional, Since the Comment was edited... The Excelsiors Neck had nothing to do with the Constitution Class refit, it had to do with the Transwarp Experiment, requiring a bulkier Neck to withstand the Transwarp Velocities stresses put upon it!

What about a Federation ship built together with Juarti's Borg Cooperative? Picture Voyager with the Borg tech from Scorpion, but more extensive and "built in". Maybe have it inverted so instead the Borg tech of being on top of the hull, this one would be more like "hull plating over Borg tech", at least in sections. I love the visuals of Borg tech, and I wish more ships incorporated it.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios28 күн бұрын
I don't think that would ever happen, because of humanites inherent aversion to the Borg... And in the 32nd Century, we see no indication that that ever happened!

32nd is where Discovery ends, right? What about that smart matter stuff? Borg Nanoprobes can build cybernetics inside a person, smart matter could be a further development. And ships that can break apart and reform on the fly would require a pretty decentralized design, wouldn't they? Starfleet loves Borg tech, they just don't want it inside their bodies. It's not like they've never had dealings with hive minds or species using cybernetics before. It's the actions of the Borg Collective that make them abhorrent.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios27 күн бұрын
Programmable Matter is not Borg. And yes, Starfleet love to study Borg Tech and to develop their own tech out of it... They don't build ships with Borg Components, again Because of humanities aversion to the Borg! There is not ONE ship in Trek that is built WITH Borg Components! Even Voyager didn't like them attached on the outside of the Hull! So again, I don't think it would happen!

I’m puzzled as to why the belief that the Federation’s transwarp experiment failed is so widespread in fandom and beta canon. There’s no concrete onscreen evidence regarding the outcome of transwarp engines, but perhaps the lack of further mentions led to the assumption of failure. Interestingly, all canon ship designs between the Excelsior and Galaxy classes share the Excelsior’s wrap-around nacelle grilles, which may imply continued transwarp influence.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios26 күн бұрын
Uhhhh because there's a LOT of on screen evidence... If the Experiment had been a success than ships would be travelling at Transwarp, not warp in the 24th century... And had it been a success, then Starfleet would not be STILL trying to break the Transwarp Barrier, See Star Trek Voyger, or be surprised at the Borg Transwarp Capabilities... (TNG and VOY) And no, Nacelle Design Shapes have nothing to do with it, See Star Trek Picard! And that's all Canon and Concrete!

There's is a thought I've had about the Excelsior. All the data on it says it was built in the 2280s, but if you look at the bridge in STIII, it is using TOS style computer graphics. Could that mean that the Excelsior's construction was started in the 2260s? If it were built in the 2280s why doesn't it have movie era computer graphics? Food for thought.

Thank you, but why? Where in canon (or Beta Canon) does it say that needs to be done?
@vishnu7927 күн бұрын
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Not so much "canon", but more like "in-universe logic". The great weakness (and the most common fan-theory I've come across) that sounded the death knell for the Connie's was the introduction of the vertical warp core. Excelsior was designed specifically to accommodate her vertical core (which was huge when compared to Enterprise's, incidentally), and her neck section was made so large to allow for separation between the engineering spaces needed to transfer the plasma and energy between her warp and impulse engines and to her phaser weapons systems and the antimatter storage and handling systems for her torpedoes. A single lucky (or sneaky) hit on her torpedo launchers (Wrath of Khan-style) would not result in the automatic detonation of her warp core should that hit occur with a loaded torpedo on the rack waiting to be launched. Enterprise got lucky in that Kirk never ordered Red Alert before Khan launched the attack, which could have destroyed the ship immediately, since a Red Alert order causes the weapons systems to be readied for action, including charging the antimatter warheads of the ready-to-launch torpedoes. The old Connie-style neck didn't really have enough room for the new warp core (which runs up through the neck behind that light-blue strip of hull armor) that Starfleet tried to cram into it. They managed it, but it was a horrible tactical weakness.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios26 күн бұрын
@@vishnu79 Sorry but all you've done here is make a bunch of assumptions that are not fact! First off fan theories really mean nothing but your theory is especially incorrect! Given that the Constitution Class Refit was launched in around 2272, and that at least 3 Connie Refits were at the Battle of Wolf 359 2367, almost a Century Later, blows your dissertation right out of the water... The Class wouldnt have stayed in service for almost a century if ANY of what you're trying to play off as facts were true! Also, the following is NOT true or factual at all; 1.Excelsior was designed specifically to accommodate her vertical core (which was huge when compared to Enterprise's, incidentally) NO, it was designed to hand the stress of Transwarp Travel. 2. her neck section was made so large to allow for separation between the engineering spaces needed to transfer the plasma and energy between her warp and impulse engines and to her phaser weapons systems and the antimatter storage and handling systems for her torpedoes. No again, it was designed to handle Transwarp Travel Stresses. 3.hit on her torpedo launchers (Wrath of Khan-style) would not result in the automatic detonation of her warp core should that hit occur with a loaded torpedo on the rack waiting to be launched. In the Wrath of Khan, since we see the Torpedo Tubes being loaded BEFORE they Enter the Mutara Nebula, and Khan DOES hit the Torp Bay WITH loaded Torpedoes, disproves your comment right off the bat! Photon Torpedoes are like Nuclear Missles in that the Warhead doesnt ignite with weapons fire! 4. Enterprise got lucky in that Kirk never ordered Red Alert before Khan launched the attack, which could have destroyed the ship immediately, since a Red Alert order causes the weapons systems to be readied for action, including charging the antimatter warheads of the ready-to-launch torpedoes. Again wrong, see above reason! 5. The old Connie-style neck didn't really have enough room for the new warp core (which runs up through the neck behind that light-blue strip of hull armor) that Starfleet tried to cram into it. They managed it, but it was a horrible tactical weakness.- Again WRONG, as the Enterprise was refit to include the new technologies... If it wouldn't have worked, Starfleet would have just increased the neck size to accommodate it. You need to go back, watch Star trek and instead of assuming things, this time, accept things that are canon for what they are! You've got absolutely NOTHING here! Canon disproves EVERYTHING you just said! And PS, Next time you decide to answer for someone else, try answering the actual question that is asked which was "Where in canon (or Beta Canon) does it say that needs to be done?" not with made up in your head nonsense! (THREAD CLOSED- No further comments will appear To prevent an incorrect, nonsense circular argument which Vishnu79 is just wrong about on all fronts)

I would have gone with shorter and deeper warp nacelles to keep length the same as a Constitution-retrofit ship while keeping the same amount of equipment.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios28 күн бұрын
That would defeat the entire purpose of the video...
@jimb860127 күн бұрын
I wish the Enterprise A was something like this instead of using the same refit model. I think this design could work with shorter nacellles and a smaller impulse deck but that defeats the concept of just swapping Excelsior components.

I can't say I'm surprised, going by in-universe logic - it has been known for a long time that the Connie's neck was a weak point of the design (Khan's attack is a good example; even the Kelvin Enterprise had the same problem).
@TriAngulumAudioStudios28 күн бұрын
Khan,s attack on the Enterprise's Neck in the Mutara Nebula was just coincidence, not specifically attacked by Khan during his initial attack, showing it is not as much of a weakness in the ship as we often think!

I've tried to fit out both the TMP Enterprise and Excelsior with warp cores and the deuterium storage to fuel them. I've done thus taking into account the amount energy the TNG tech manual claims should be needed for regular warp travel. IMHO, the Excelsior warp core would not work in the refit Enterprise and the fuel requirements for that core would overflow her exteriors, leaving room for nothing else. If I were to attempt to create a history for such a class, I would come to the same conclusions but have had them realized before the vessel was even comoleted as a prototype. I like your conclusions, tho for different reasons.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios27 күн бұрын
It WASNT an Excelsior Warp Core that was installed though... As the video said, it was a MODIFIED Excelsior Warp Core... A very different thing...
@bmobert27 күн бұрын
@TriAngulumAudioStudios Yes. And it would have HAD to have been. I did listen. And any mod would have made the core much less capable. I got that too. I'm not arguing. I'm agreeing.

It seems similar to the Lexington class Command Cruiser from the Star Trek Klingon Academy game.

Not really, the Secondary Hull of the Lexington Class was VERY different that the Constitution Class Refit Secondary Hull!
@NCC-72545A28 күн бұрын
@TriAngulumAudioStudios Yeah, that's why I said, 'It seems similar." You could say that the Lexington class is a much more refined version of this concept, but I digress. It's still an interesting design and a good video.

I don't see why this design couldn't have been made to work some more effort and fine-tuning the design, for starters having a matter/anti-matter reactor scaled to fit the space-frame and appropriately sized warp-nacelles.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios25 күн бұрын
It was already scaled to fit the design, as the video said... And as the video already explained, it needed a complete overhaul which would have changed the design far too much to be what they were looking for...

Weird but i kinda like it! What is it with Excelsior parts that just always work so well in these kinds of mashups. Archemidies class is my other top excelsior hybrid. I don't think the "great experiment" was a total failure. Heck it made StarFleet rewrite its entire warp scale. Starfeelt just needed better people marketing what good came out of it.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios28 күн бұрын
Definition of Success; the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Here the aim or purpose was to Travel at Transwarp Velocities, and thus was a complete failure because that goal was never achieved. So factually and by definition, you'd be wrong! And really, there's nothing wrong with failure... Failures drive us to conquer them, to think outside the box etc... In fact, most inventions start in failure! So don't get stuck on that idea :)

I want to know where in canon (ie official sources) it states that the transwarp experiments failed (other than Scotty’s sabotage). Shortly after the movie era the warp scale was changed, so obviously warp drives got an improvement somewhere!
@TriAngulumAudioStudios28 күн бұрын
We know it failed because Starfleet is STILL trying to break the Transwarp Barrier in the 24th Century! (See Star Trek: Voyager) If the Transwarp Drive had succeeded, than Starfleet's vessels would be travelling at Transwarp, not warp! And they wouldn't be amazed at alien races that HAVE Transwarp... And that's all canon!

I like the storyline. But IF it was Canon I wouldn't have liked the idea. Being that it would seem like StarFleet not letting go of the past. And letting a new generation of offers and crew take over the history of the ENTERPRISE in a totally new design. But overall I do like the idea of building a new fleet with EXCELSIOR class parts. Similar to PROJECT GALAXY.

Although this was never really intended to be canon, I disagree with your reasoning... ALL Starfleet ships are based on some type of lineage, so this us actually a natural progression!

See, for me, I just cannot see why people are so keen on using Excelsior design elements. I know it's a minority opinion, but to my eye, Excelsior is one of the ugliest Federation starship designs out there. It's an enormous, ungainly bathtub-shaped secondary hull, with what looks like an aft carrier flight deck (a rather ridiculous concept on a starship), connected to a saucer section that looks tiny in comparison to that awful slug of a secondary hull, and warp nacelles hanging down such that they would interfere with most things you might want to do with that flight deck. It didn't look like a supraluminal thing of sleek beauty, to my eye it looked like a beached whale that wallowed wherever it went. Maybe decent esthetics weren't scheduled to be installed until the following Tuesday...

@TriAngulumAudioStudios28 күн бұрын
Uhhh sorry but you are incorrect! She didnt fail because of sabotage, she failed because it didnt work! How do we know that? Well because in Star Trek IV: The Voyager Home The Federation charges our heroes with Sabotage of the Excelsior... So Starfleet knew what Scotty had done, or else they wouldnt be able to charge Kirk and Crew with that crime... And do you think, knowing the Excelsior was sabotaged by Scotty that they wouldn't replace the components and continue with the testing? Of course they would.... And since ships aren't travelling at Transwarp after that movie, means it failed!

@@TriAngulumAudioStudios yep.. A Constitutional Excelsiorized shorter excelsior nacelles, shorter and thicker neck, smaller saucer, and not shooting for max top speed. The secondary hull and pylons would need to be reinforced and braced too if it using excelsior style warp core. The crew number would also need to be less than 320 asa result.

Which would ALL defeat the purpose of the video, as stated in the videos intro... And PS the video also states it's a modified Excelsior Warp Core, not an Excelsior Warp Core, so reinforcement isnt necessary, nor has there ever been any evidence that it's required in Any design when using Excelsior Components, See Centaur Class... And no, the crew number doesn't need to be less or more than anything, not sure where you get that idea at all either!
