Got them today in the mail. They're fantastic. Love them. It's EXACTLY what I wanted in '84. I'm honestly blown away at not just how great the sculpts are, but how strong the quality is. Not to mention the affordable price, which is basically $10 per figure in the set. They just knocked these out of the park. Good job for once, Hasbro.

This is so cool! Someone at Hasbro might have had the same dream we had as kids and made it come to life. I'll go one step further, because as time went on and Hasbro's ARAH started introducing special teams in the line, in an alternate universe the first special team was G.I. Joe Ghostbusters and Dr. Mindbender decided it wasn't enough to be an amazing scientist who works out everyday and he built a ghost machine for Cobra. Who you gonna call when Ghost Vipers are everywhere?

They look great with the Playmobil firehouse and the plasma car. It's a big miss that Hasbro didn't design the car to fit all four figures, though. A shame they don't fit in the Playmobil Ecto-1.

This video is true integrity from a great channel! You give credit where credit is earned as always. So glad these lived up to what you dreamed as a child. I hope this is enough of a success that HASBRO takes this approach with other characters or even other 80s properties. But, for now, I can simply be happy to have this ESSENTIAL group of characters represented on my shelf to go along with my other vintage figures.

I bought two sets of these. I absolutely love o-ring figures AND Ghost Busters, so it was win/win for me! I also have the Ecto-1, but I didn't get that playmobil firehouse... yet. I think Hasbro should make o-ring figures of all the popular 80s TV shows too, like Knightrider, Airwolf, they could even make Magnum P.I. they should make every single one of them.. and the vehicles!

Great video Michael, I'm right there with you on the ghostbusters line. I always wanted a boogeyman figure, the old lady from the "Mrs. Roger's Neighborhood" episode, or a Grundel figure. I feel thus are missed opportunities for toy companies. It would even be cool to get a firehouse playset of when Samhain turned the firehouse into a ghoul headquarters. I still find it amazing how out of everyone it's PLAYMOBIL that nailed it. - Ecto 1 fits all characters comfortably AND equipment properly inside. - Firehouse has stairs added unlike the Kenner playset so you can physically move figures around. - Firehouse and Ecto 1 work together properly by being able to park it inside. And yet Lego fans always joke and make fun of them despite Lego's Ecto 1 being inferior.

I live in Montreal Canada and after watching your video and started looking for the ecto online and it’s sold out everywhere. Today I went to my local mall and game stop had one hidden in a corner ! It might be a little big, but if you want a retro slimer based off of the movie model: Their was a candy container made back in the 80s. They're kind of hard to come by and are unpainted, but it's affordable when you find one.

To be fair I don't remember a scene in Ghostbusters where we have an in car shot or up close outer shot of all 4 guys in Ecto 1 at the same time, so maybe two of them did lay in the back seat like firewood. J/K! I think when they are getting ready to start the police escort to the apartment building and when they arrive they show that 3 are in the front seat. Ray driving, Winston in the middle, and Venkman on passenger side. You see the back side door open when they arrive, but I don't think you actually see Egon get out. So the seating arrangement is even worse than you thought! The car should have been made wide enough to accommodate 3 figures on the front seat! That's like having a Millenium Falcon toy that can only fit one figure in the cockpit...oh wait...I think they actually did that once, lol! Great video as usual. I didn't even know about these coming out and after your glowing review I think I'll pick up a set!

I beg to differ, sir. In the early 90's I had the Real Ghostbusters Firehouse; I was big into GB's but I made a new friend who liked GI Joe, so I converted until I found Star Trek. Sadly I only had the firehouse because it had been marked down years later, but now I wanted Starfleet officers and a bridge. I settled for making my GI Joes my officers and their top secret base, Outpost #23, was the converted firehouse. They DO scale well in it, especially the top floor where the old GB figures always looked a bit cramped. I hardly remember the GB cartoon and I never watched GI Joe, BUT I still remember every cardboard computer console and made up officer name I created 30 years later. Imagination, creativity, and the ability to improvise will always matter more to me. That said, as much as I love my old Kenner firehouse, that Playmo version would have been really nice back then -but it needs some updates cuz its far from perfect. Oh and I didn't like the O-ring figures then or now! Once those connections got loose there was no more standing that figure up on its own... Then they would get "rubber band cancer" and they were never the same after that. I liked the older 'Adventure People/Playmobile' articulation more. Forty years later and all of those figures can still stand. haha

Michael, so I have the same set up as yours but I also added the Diamond Select 24in Stay Puft Marshmellow Man Bank that looks absolutely insane next to the 18in Playmobil Firehouse playset. It's expensive on the aftermarket but boy does it finish it off. Also the 1:18 3rd Party Fantazm Toys Class 10 Slimeball is the perfect Slimer. Glad you finally got a childhood wish made real!

As soon as I received my Ecto-1 I chucked my old O-ring GI Joes into it and soon discovered the fitment issues. So my disappoint is prepared. Wonder how they fit into the Playmobil Ecto-1? Hoping they do a second set of these GB O-rings from GB2.

While I ABSOLUTELY HATED all G.I. Joe toys with an undying passion, I'm incredibly happy that you had a dream materialize into reality for you! That is incredible! Barring some little flaws with the rear seating. I was a die-hard MOTU figure kid, that scale and crazy proportions was perfect in my child mind, because I was obsessed with Frank Frazetta. Because of that, I loathed all things in 3.75 scale, and all those little broken-off thumbs. 🤣

Thanks for the kind sentiment. Now for a serious question, and this is no shade. But I'm working off a theory I've had for a long time about childhood toy preferences. Is it possible you were all thumbs and needed more durable toys to survive your lack of fine motor skills? I knew a lot of kids like that growing up.

@retroblasting I don't know, I didn't have GI Joes, my cousins did, and 9 out of 10 of the figures thumbs were broken off. I thought they were junky lil figures, but then again, I played with MOTU figures, which were incredibly tough and had big accessories (vehicles) that could withstand a lot of play damage. My cousins spent all their money on GI Joes, and they broke so many of them, then the vehicles had plastic axles, I just hated them for being little, junky and all plastic axles, my MOTU vehicles had metal axles. I think for me, it just came down to preference, Joes just looked so scrawny, whereas He-Man and Skeletor were bursting with muscles. It was a preference thing. I'm a 1980 baby, so I was the perfect age for the best toys, and rarely broke anything, I also built models, but I didn't understand why Joes were so tiny, when my older ones were bigger 12" figures. It felt mentally like a minor upgrade to plain plastic army men. Then again, I felt the same way about Star Wars figures, they were just too little to fascinate me, they seemed fragile.

I know what you mean …… I got the four Ghostbusters And the EO one Christmas of 1988 and I remember being disappointed that they were taller than he-man with Star Wars articulation like you said G.I. Joe Buck Rogers Lenard corps And even Bo and Luke Duke were three and three-quarter O-ring construction so this really is like Hasbro brought them back in the DeLorean👍🏻

It's the Playmobil Fire House. It was purchased from Amazon about 5 years aback. I think they still have it. It was a Christmas gift to the channel.

I still can’t believe these exist. We’re in the same boat. Might be an Unpopular opinion, but think retro-style was the way to go with these, over the modern TVC-style. But even so, with all the times Hasbro slapped “Kenner” on something and released a retro-style figure, it was the 5-poa route. The fact that these not only got made in 2024, but are somehow old-school O-ring… I don’t know. I was shocked when they announced it, I’m shocked seeing the final product, and I’m loving every thing about it. Thanks for willing them into existence for us! Can’t wait for these

Michael me too man, i expected those articulated 3.75 movie Ghostbusters or atleast a 5 poa 3.75inch line. I csnt lie though the cartoon figures were a huge welcome when those came out. I remember Toys R Us had just opened in my city. I rode up there as a 9 year old with a friend. I got the cartoon Peter with the crazy eyes and he got Ray. That was a magical time man.
