The little Daihatsu Mira is turning into a big project... woohoo! After getting the engine running we have now developed a charging fault. Had a chance to check out the rusted seized front brakes too

Are there junkyards in JP? Where you're able to go into a yard to pull your own parts. Maybe you might find some parts from there?

Thanks for the comment. Yes they do have junkyards and I managed to buy this car from one. Problem is finding the same car for spares as it's pretty rare now. I can always try to make other parts fit from a similar car if I have no choice.
