It has been mentioned in the comments already but the fight animation is on a such high level compared to almost anything produced these days. It looks fluid and is not overloaded with special effects to hide poorly executed action sequences. There is a simplicity in that which does not diminish the presentation but rather puts in focus really vital for immersion fight moments.

I always admire how they adapted the tornado kick from video game to an actual believable spin kick. If you pay attention in the game Ryu spin on one leg and spin kick with the other leg continuously, just like an helicopter which is pretty hilarious but here you can see he start with a low roundhouse kick to create momentum and spin jump and kick by switching left right left right kick, I don't think people can achieve this in real life you would need like a 20 to 30 meter distance to run at full speed and long jump doing a spin just like a figure skating but if you extend you leg in mid air you would loose balance. It's physically impossible. But you can def do something very similar starts with a low roundhouse kick, follow by a 2 spin kick but without jumping. Then you jump and and do a 2 spin kick which many athletic person can do even 3 kicks. But it will require a lot of stamina and control.
@ocosmosinfinito2 жыл бұрын
This tornado kick from that movie was replicated in several later games, SF EX plus, SF3, Tekken 3 onwards and others. Dan's in SFA3 as well as Ryo's Tornado Kick from KOF96 and 97 also seems inspired by this scene.

3:24 This is Ken's technique. When Ryu does it the opponent falls on the first kick.

Holyyyy shit! 🤯 Did not know he broke his arm as a kid. Seeing this as an adult it mind blowing. Incredible scene.

I like to think that Fei Long is famous all over the world and Ryu has no earthly idea who he is, tries to pay for his Emergency Room bill as they’re leaving the hospital and Fei Long whips out his credit card and is like “No really it’s ok…” lol

In future games, Ryu would at least give his opponent some praise, advice or encouragement before leaving him/her in the dust.

I don't know why, but if you fast forward to 3:20 - Ryu sees Fei long coming down after his attack (Feint Wahhhhh taaa.......), and shows him how a real spinning kick is done.

Fun fact: in the dub Fei Long is voiced by Walter White.

It always used to crack my friends and I up that Fei Long comes out of this fight looking like a mummy with an IV attached to him, but Ryu has like...a bandaid like come on. I know he's the main character and they have to make Ansatsuken look godly but cut Fei Long *some* slack. lol

The english version has better music and Fei Long is voiced by Bryan Cranston. It's badass.

A hard rock soundtrack vs a soundtrack made for a tv soapie or drama series made in the early 1980s. That last bit of music at the end was as if Ryu and Fei Long started to fall in love.

@@Armaron06 I dunno where you get that impression from, to me it just sounds like regular "town" music from Japanese videogames. This is a videogame movie after all.

No homo: But I missed the days where Ryu looked like a Buff-Asian lovechild of Charlie Sheen and George Clooney. Nowadays in SFIV, V, & VI, he looks like the Hulk ate Ryu, and then wore his flesh and clothes as a disguise.

When you think about it, Ryu started his journey at age 16 so he’s probably 17 at this time and Fei Long was on his 30’s. 😂
@KenMasters. Жыл бұрын
Ryu was born in 1965 and this story takes place in 1995, making him 30. In Street Fighter II V, he was instead born in the year 1977, and the story also took place in 1995, making Ryu 17.
