Nice Video. I have a Talon E+ 3 29 which has the Ridedash control that you are retrofitting here. I smashed mine and was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to the GIANT RIDEDASH EVO SG DISPLAY? If so, what parts would be required? (cables and handlebar control, etc.)

Hi Bruce, thank you very much for your kind words. Yes, you can upgrade to the RideDash EVO SG display since your bike also uses the SG (Smart Gateway) system. For this display, you will also need a control unit and the display holder. You can find all the details on the product page. I just got the same ride control dash for my 2022 giant trance ebike. Do i need to plug the dash into the cable that goes to the power switch on the top tube?

Hi Jeremy, When it comes to Trance bikes, using the Dash display can be a bit complicated. To use it, you'll definitely need a Y-connector cable. This cable acts as the motor cable, so you connect it to the motor. There are two plugs available on the cable where you can connect both the Dash display and the power switch on the top tube. Once connected, the power switch will have two free plugs. You can use one of these plugs to connect the Ergo control unit, which should already be installed on your handlebar. You should be able to keep using the small Ergo control unit along with the Dash display. @@ebike24 I have the sycdrive pro2 motor and the ergo 3 switch. It says the Y connector is compatible with the ergo and ergo 2.

@@jeremylee6262 That is correct, the Ergo 3 doesn't fit the Y-cable due to the polarity. Therefore, the Y-cable needs to be connected to the motor and then to the switch in the top tube, and then you can connect the Ergo 3 to that switch. Cheers - Michael

Hi Thomas, Thank you very much for your comment. I am afraid that the RideControl Dash does not fit to your bike. The controller on your bike is very similar to the one shown in the video. However, the system software is different. The Smart Gateway (SG) system was not introduced until 2021, which indicates that your bike uses the previous controller. Since your bike does not use the SG-System, the RideControl Dash will not be compatible with your bike. Hi there, that is a really good point. It is indeed possible to exchange the control units. You just need to make sure that the control units use the "SG-System (Smart Gateway)" which is the same system software as your Stance has. Thanks to the SG-System, you can use different combinations of control units and displays. The wiring and connection process is the same as shown in the video, and thanks to plug-and-play functionality, the devices can be used right away. This is because all the motor and vehicle data are stored in the motor, allowing for seamless integration and immediate functionality. I think the Bluetooth logo only appears once the display is connected to the app. Nevertheless, Bluetooth is usually always turned on with the Giant SG displays.
