On the big overhead lights, I suggest putting a three pin switch on those lights. Switched one way is normal light. Switched to the other way it would turn on red leds (or another color of your choice) to preserve night vision. It would also prevent waking others trying to sleep.

Something to consider doing on your fuel system: have one of your tanks that doesn’t have a deck fill and the only way to fill that tank is by pumping the fuel from one of the other tanks, through the filter system, and into that tank with no deck fill. Have the engine only pulling from that tank. This guarantees that the engine will always be getting clean pre filtered fuel. I did this when I redid the fuel system on my boat and I love it. It gets passed through a 30 micron filter and a 10 micron filter as it gets pumped into the tank. Then the engine has its own set of filters. 10 and 2 microns. I realize the second 10 is redundant, but it was already installed on the boat.

What happened to KP? i missed something. BTW, that cherry is beautiful and i thought it was hilarious that you told Ron that when the seas get rough you would be grabbing his cherry. I really admire what you guys (i know that it is your dream Steve, and that you are the driver) are doing. Some background, I sailed a Tahiti Ketch 30 back in the 70's. This was a wooden boat, built in the 40's. The boat was purchased in Nantes, sailed to Panama, Tahiti, Hawaii, then San Francisco and then sold. But, what you are planning, in this digital age, is just incredible. To build this traditional design out of trees from your grandfather's farm is, in itself awesome. But, then you are off on adventure two, go sailing and learning. Bravo, I always remember my sailing years with fondness and to watch you guys do this in the 21st century is marvelous. Keep it up Steve!!!

Good to see KP back, one concern is the removal of the backing plate on the LED disks, this is normally used to remove some of the heat generated by the LED's, and removal will greatly shorten the life of the unit. You really need to put them back.
@AcornToArabella
@AcornToArabella Жыл бұрын
Hmm… given it’s a puck light, meant to be flush mounted with about a couple of millimeters behind it, I think that’d make a a lousy heat sink. In this case it’s surrounded by metal around its rim and has about an inch or more now between itself and the mounting surface. Maybe it all works out.
@dilbert0815
@dilbert0815 Жыл бұрын
@@AcornToArabella its still distributung the heat away from the diodes. So it would reduce the peak temperatures of the diodes. Strip lights are pretty sensitive to overheat and temd to degrade fast. If it is a flat area you may just copy the old backplate it to aluminium or copper/brass. However considering the humidity you may well have to replace it before its normal lifetime. Make shur you have a few spares and an connector for fixing it.

These videos show all the hours spent building parts and assembling the boat and I sometimes wonder: how many hours have been spent sharpening chisels, hand planes, drill bits; how many band saw blades have they gone through, jointer and planer blades sharpened or replaced? When you consider all extra hours spent maintaining the tools we watch them use this project becomes even more amazing.
