It's pretty fascinating that Walt Disney's first love was urban planning... and he's remembered for animation.

Yup! Corning ware was the kitchenware of the future... until Dow spun off Corning as a separate business and saddled it with ALL of the legal liability for silicone breast implants. They kept the glassware though. Except now it is no longer boro-silicate. It's just tempered soda-glass. It explodes when you take it from freezer to oven.

Sure they used to try to give people what they wanted and make it with quality. Since Reagan it's all been about selling throw away crap that big business wants to pawn off on the working poor.

I'm still wondering how horrified all the actors in this video would be if they were shown the present we live in today.

I think they might be unimpressed given whenever that video was recorded the there was computer speech that while it didn't sound convincing it didn't sound completely terrible either. If I was around then I'd guess we would have perfect computerized speech decades ago

What do you mean? We are living in the CIty of Tomorrow. We have freeways everywhere. No one was lied to. The only thing we were wrong about was space travel and flying cars. But even then helicopters also exist. Now drones. People forget air travel was revolutionary in the 60s. We have air travel now. Believe it or not we are living in what they would ocnsider the city of tomorrow. Because we were born into it, it's hard to see it. But can you imagine your life without freeways?

Look around, open your eyes. Listen. Watch. Be grateful for what we do have. Like. How are we even communicating right now? I'm not even speaking. This is practically telepathy and it's just taken for granted.

I'm guessing the machine short was from the 50s, if that dude talking about the computer, he may not even be able to comprehend our technology. Like the waves in the water. Not even 75yrs ago, it's amazing when you just think about it, just watch that computer with the vocal track.

10:57 My favorite ride at Disneyland was the People Mover. It was the only way to see the miniature-sized model city of EPCOT with all its moving cars and monorails.

laughing at the stupid city they put a ring road around the city my traffic lot is stupider lol they got told when it was in the planning stages to build the light rail transit system at the same time build the rail system outward with the growth of the city 50-year rail system go only both to south only they pushing out westward now would have been better if the built the train ring road first the pushed back into the city downtown center they eye lever is on stupid they put part of the south leg underground they put it above ground better they going passed the intersection the put up before that nightmare that is the wast end system the built 3 new bus terminals mover 10 million for each one they know the lite rail was going to be built in the follen year one of them was never open to the public was torn down for the rail system the city did buy a lot of houses for this project they turned around and sold the land to developers nightmare that turned out to be too big lines needed to be planned in with no room space

If walt could see the fights in WDW occurring on almost a daily basis. He was a naive man. Hearts and flowers with a boot to the head. Retro future is funny.

Love this. I am so happy you did an EPCOT inclusion with ith the Florida plan. Great curation! Any thoughts to do a Syd Mead, or a US Steel concept? I think you've got some great GM stuff, too. Keep it coming!
