This just breaks me. Seeing Sindri transform from a kind, loving, compassionate dwarf into this hateful, grieving, lost person just shows you the real effect of loss. It’s reach is far greater than what we know. It can turn you into something else entirely, whether you let it or not.

Honestly it's very realistic. Max Payne was like that and took him years to recover from grieving and doing something good to realize with letting go the past and turn the page for better future. Broken heart cannot be healed. This scene serves as the message to every person not turn into. Thor's wife kept it balanced for losing 2 sons and her husband. I'm sure inside she is grieving and depressed without showing it outside like Sindri, but she keeps it balanced.

@@xXSilentAgent47Xx Everyone breaks at some point, and I think that's both the beauty and tragedy of this scene. I think the main reason Sindri is so crushed by Brok's second death, is because he knows all too well the price of the dark magic he used in resurrecting his brother- Brok's soul is now forever wandering and never able to reach an afterlife. It is quite the important line, actually. The writer was making a point that Kratos and Atreus screwed over Sindri the same way gods screw over their most trusted pawns. The same thing both the Pantheon and Odin've been doing. The same thing Kratos has experienced first hand. Is is the culmination of Atreus' "i'm a god now" arc, from GoW4. Now he understands what is like to be viewed like one of the gods he tries to defy. Just like an undertone of the story being how Kratos does not wish to become Greek Kratos again, Atreus doesn't wish to be become Odin. And Sindri just accused him of being just that. Who knows? If it wasn't this exact line from Sindri, perhaps Atreus would have claimed the green asscrack for himself. Blasting Odin, but being no different than him. I don't like GoW4's story, but Ragnarok is incredibly well written.

Honestly, I couldn’t understand exactly why Sindri became so enraged with Atreus from watching just the spoilers. They seemed almost like brothers, and I was sure he would know that Odin is responsible for his pain, but after seeing all the gameplay and cutscenes, I finally understand. Atreus always dragged him along, and never exactly considered his misgivings just because he felt that they were partners. He kept stretching Sindri’s patience and took him so much for granted that you can actually see him slowly being resentful towards him. Brok’s death was the last straw. From Sindri’s perspective, it’s the culmination of every stupid choice Atreus has made in the game. His association with him actually cost him everything. And while Atreus has developed and grown after such an ordeal, it’s hard to blame Sindri for choosing to hate him regardless. As Kratos said at some point in the game, intent doesn’t matter- only the consequences.
@luanphan27062 жыл бұрын
Brok has already died once. It is revealed during the trip to forge Kratos's spear, that the forge Mermaid only communicates with other living beings via their souls. The mermaid did not acknowledge Brok's presence, and Brok figured out he no longer had his soul. His body lives, but it is like an empty vessel. Later we learned Brok has already died after forging the Leviathan Axe, to a spider bite. At the time, Sindri used dark magic to revived him, and a part of Brok was brought back. That is why Brok's skin is blue. He is an undead dwarf. Back to the present, Brok died again. But this time, Brok told Sindri to let go, that he knew what SIndri has done. He does not want his brother to cling onto the hope of keep bringing him back to live like that. He forgave Sindri for using dark magic for that, and died, not allowing Sindri to revive him again. Sindri lost Brok twice. But this time, it is permanent.
@neusxon93982 жыл бұрын
Man literally said it to us though?.... He went out of his way, every step of the way "being the better person" to help his 2 friends but that lead to this. Every step of the way, the brothers give what little they have to support the Father and Son duo. This time, pretty much EVERYONE have reminded Atreus that his obsession with him finding "a reason/ purpose for Loki" is mirroring Odin's obsession in wanting to be "all knowing". But the lad insisted, without really looking back/ at the present on the "little guys" who kept giving him the means to go on his pilgrimage, at least not until it's too late. Granted, it's not a constant spiral of loss, the lad clearly learned and grew from it. But again, at what cost and to who?

And as games go this is a perfect example of that. My mother died in my arms and I hate myself to this day for being unable to save her to this day. Sindri is more upset that he did not see through Odin and therefore was unable to save his brother. He outwardly blames Atreus because he doesn't know how to deal with a situation that no one foresaw.
@joshuaromerogonzalez945 Жыл бұрын
Sindri was in every right to be mad at Atreus: it was Atreus' idea and insistance to search for Tyr in the first place, and he followed him in his quest, believing nothing wrong could've come out of that; and when Sindri offering his home to Kratos and Atreus, they also left Brok within the killer's reach. Even if they weren't aware of Odin's deception, him aiding Atreus is what ultimately got Brok killed

This in addition to the post game funeral for Brok gives better clarity on Sindri's overall state. Where it's clear he holds them both responsible to a degree but more than anything he holds Atreus as the primary fault. He suffers a lot from this point, but you see him begrudgingly accept Kratos's help in the Viking funeral and he tolerates him at least up to the point when Kratos tries to reach out to him. Mimir comments afterwards about taking from a hole makes it deeper and only after seeing all these things together that it fully makes sense. I really feel bad for him, and he really did Lose something significant here and it contrasts with Freya's forgiveness, Sindri had already defied death for his brother once. and the most concerning thing about this is.... it's not exactly clear what Sindri is doing after and during, just that each time you see him afterwards he looks more and more ragged.

Odin, who was disguised as his dead son (Which is fucked up in more ways than I want to consider right now), would get so mad at Brok questioning him (somehow Odin has the patience for playing with prophecies regarding Ragnarok but not for Brok questioning him) that he would conjure up a knife in a moment's notice and stab Brok with it. The entire scenario would be impossible to try and convince anybody of in the moments leading up to it. Kratos's experience with war shows up: The other guy was better. We prepared in every reasonable way possible, we took into consideration all reasonable things, we knew everything we knew we could know in a given situation, and this still happened. Kratos knows that kicking yourself doesn't work in a lot of situations. And having your head stuck in grief in a time of war only hurts further survival prospects.

I don't think Sindri has become corrupted; he's just lost his only brother to Odin - Brok is gone, and he's not coming back. They may have not always seen things eye to eye, and bickered just like all siblings do, but Sindri still loved his brother. He's hurting, he's in pain, and some people tend to lash out when they're in the grieving process. Given time, I think Sindri will come to understand that it was neither Atreus nor Loki who killed Brok. Odin was the one who held the knife. Odin is the one who took Sindri's brother away. Odin is the one who was so obsessed with knowing his fate, he was willing to kill people over it. Brok was an unfortunate victim of Odin's madness.

What’s funny is that it’s the same premise with Freya and Baldur. They saved her from dying by the hands of her son but she doesn’t see it that way. The lesson here is that pain transcends common sense and it hurts more when it’s out of your control. Their anger and pain isn’t necessarily directed to just Kratos and Atreus. Partly, both Freya and Sindiri feel angry at themselves for maybe not doing enough to prevent the misfortune. In Freya’s case it’s possibly the fact that she feels guilty of stripping her son of feeling the world and being overprotective. In Sindiri’s case, it’s possibly the fact that he’s people pleased so much and put himself in a dangerous situation. Spider-Man is a good example of this.

during the game i noticed how generous sindri was being but it started to become extremely obvious when draupnier was given to kratos. its clear that sindri really enjoyed the routines he had adapted to take care of it and was genuinely sad to see it go. he used terms like “take care of” most likely because he saw the thing as a pet or a similar little thing. we as humans/dwarves really tend to personify objects we spend a lot of time around so its almost heartbreaking when he says he’ll miss draupnier.
@marcellhegyi13632 жыл бұрын
what makes it worse is that Draupnir is actually their creation (in original Norse mythos and in game too). They made Mjölnir Draupnir and Gullinbursti as gifts for Odin. By that point you can really tell even tough giving and helping is in his nature, he is starting to wear thin with more and more random people to accomodate, his lie to Brok maybe getting exposed by the forge, and Atreus refusing to tell where he was, then breaking their home and going to Asgard for real.

As much as I hate seeing Sindri like that, it makes sense. He brought Brok back to life once already, and his botched, flighty attempt meant Brok was lacking a piece of his soul. So when Brok is killed again, Sindri knows Brok has been condemned to a terrible fate. He blames himself, but he needs a scapegoat. He has that in Kratos and Atreus, but soecifically Atreus. Kratos was always distant and blunt, but never outright disrespectful. Atreus was always very friendly and welcoming, but also dangerously ambitious. Brok and Sindri literally gave them everything. As the Huldr brothers, they were exiled from Svartleftheim thanks in part to the creation of Mjolnir. Kratos and Atreus are all they have in terms of customers for the most part. They helped them however they could, even offering their unique services. Sindri gets the worst of it. Almost being eaten by a dragon Trapped in the middle of fimblewinter Being forcibly drawn into Atreus's antics reluctantly, each time becoming a little more embittered and hesitant. Especially when Atreus continually ignores his warnings and advice. The strain begins to get to him when an Angry Atreus attacks him as a bear And then finally, Brock's death at the hands of Odin disguised as Tyr. Tyr, who had been dead and buried, who Atreus swore up and down was alive. Tyr, who Atreus brought back to Sindri's house. Whether he meant it or not, once again Atreus is responsible for Sindri's grief. It's no wonder Sindri constantly tells Atreus to shut up and leave him alone. Atreus has been a source of constant suffering for him. It's not the intent that matters, it's the consequences. And thanks to Atreus's intent, Sindri has had to suffer consequence after consequence. I'd hate the little shit too.

i understand sindri's pain... freya was the same before, its just time that can heal him. the voice actor is so brilliant to bring out the emotion of guilt more than hatred. sindri revived brok but at the cost of brok's 1/4Th soul...now, even after death brok can't have peace. i'm sure deep inside sindri feels extremely guilty for his mistakes too...and boy do they not hurt way more then the misgivings inflicted by others... its like the 5 stages of grief, sindri was in denial when brok first died, bargained or stole brok's soul to revive him, and now he's angry about everything that led to odin killing brok till he ends odin's soul. finally, he is shown depressed post game and probably after brok's funeral, he will find acceptance.

So then because sindri took brok's soul from the lake of souls and incomplete no less brok has been denied an afterlife. Okay. You know what I get the feeling there is more to this that they may still be making up. I mean everything technically goes somewhere. There may be a way come time and come Atreus learning more about his powers and many more things on his journey that it may be possible to find brok and maybe at least give him an after life and then from there maybe resurrection. The dwarves can walk between realms, tyre did the same with that one special stone to make his own way between realms. That in-between may be where one could find answers. And then maybe more people besides brok who have also been denied an after life. In my opinion they may have to make this up, but I wouldn't really know if they would have to. The decisions that lead kratos to becoming the ghost of Sparta are really just a series of him not being able to let go. Not letting go of his conquest for Sparta, not accepting defeat to the barbarian king at the cost of his own soul, And not accepting his own role in the death of his 1st wife and child. He fights in the 1st game under the delusion that he can simply forget what he did, And once he realizes he can't he uses his conquest and his revenge on Zeus as a distraction. He doesn't really work towards letting go until the 3rd game. Kratos, Kronos Zeus, Freya, Bauldur, Thor, Sindri; none are holy blameless for their lots in life, but each and every one of them have been at crossroads that they've taken wrong turns at. They allowed their fears or the wrongs done to them define them when they all could have been so much more.
