I've been watching your videos for over a month trying to prepare and decide how I'm going to set this thing up (Moonlight Streaming on PC library/local configuration to device/etc). Just wanted to say that I appreciate all of the hard work and that your videos are extremely entertaining. Thank you for your hard work and for sharing your findings! :)

PS3 is one of the most difficult consoles to emulate even on modern PCs because of the architecture, should be even easier to emulate PS4 because is more closer to actual PC

@TheRealAlpha2Күн бұрын
@@danielordonez1643 Pretty sure they're joking, although I wouldn't be surprised to see someone get ShadPS4 up on this to show at least a title screen.
@crestofhonor2349Күн бұрын
@@danielordonez1643 No. The reason why PS4 emulation isn't as hard on PCs is because they have GPUs both on par or much better than the PS4 and the fact you don't have to translate the code from one language to x86. Both PCs and PS4 both use x86 instruction set meaning getting to emulate the CPU is much easier. The RP5 is ARM based meaning that it's CPU would need a translation layer harming performance plus it has a far less capable GPU too

I'm honestly just so impressed at your results. It may sound like a plane taking off into orbit but I'm just impressed some things are even running at all! I probably won't dig into this emulator on my own. I am still struggling with the Vita emulation. This is my first real dive into emulation, I am loving that it emulates the secret console and ps2 almost perfectly in a lot of cases. My joystick broke so I have had to stop testing but the replacement is coming today and I can't wait to try more things on it. Trying to get the emulation working is almost as fun as playing on it. I am a little disappointed in my ability to get vita up and working but that's my ability and I am still learning. It's been a really fun experience so far so thank you for helping this total beginner figure out what this device is capable of! Also persona 5 seems to work from the secret console. It's so interesting the same game works on the secret console but not ps3 emulation!

Don't beat yourself up about the Vita emulation, I'm also really struggling with it. I've been wanting to release a part 2 of Vita games but it's been so difficult to get enough running for a video. If you're not in my Discord already, we have a Vita channel where you can ask questions and I've also added Vita to my compatibility spreadsheet so we can help each other get more games working!

Hi, do you have any advice for connecting controllers to RP5? I have an 8BitDo that the RP5 seems to think is a keyboard. When I use any other 8BitDo controller it seems to work fine.
@RyanRetro1Күн бұрын
8bitdo controllers have various modes. It might have a switch on the back to change between D or X - set it to D. If it doesn't have a switch, you need to hold Start and one of the face buttons when you turn the controller on - each one changes the mode of the controller. So if you hold Start + B when you turn on the 8bitdo controller, it'll be one mode. If you hold Start + X it'll be a different mode. Play around with that until it's the correct mode and it should fix your issue!

RCPS3 showed their new ARM builds running on Raspberry Pi 5 at drastically lowered resolutions and settings, but at more than playable framerates. I'd say, go for this video again, but see just how low you have to tweak things to make each game playable! That'll be a fun exercise to test the RP5's chipset.

Can you try emulating *Super Mario and the Rainbow Stars* on the Retriod Pocket 5?
@TheRealAlpha2Күн бұрын
keep in mind this is super early in the PS3 emulation on lower power devices, I mean they have it running on a Raspberry Pi 5 so there must be room for improvement here. But for now I'd say testing early smaller lighter PSN downloadable games like Lumines or Mushroom wars might run more than triple-A titles like Assassin's Creed or Battlefield, GTA 5 took several minutes to load even on a real PS3, with the way RPCS3 constantly loads shaders on a first time play through, I wouldn't expect much. Maybe some of the lesser games will be running better later, it's a nice potential value boost.
@RyanRetro1Күн бұрын
Yeah that's why I mixed some AAA games with some light ones to test and the light ones ran somewhat okay!

So is it the hardware or the state of the emulation software which is the issue of slowdown here?
@RyanRetro1Күн бұрын
I think in this case it's the state of the software because PS3 emulation is spotty at best even on powerful hardware
@TheRealAlpha2Күн бұрын
I think it's also a lot about how it set up when it is running on PC, I had one 2D game called Invincible Knight running fairly well a while back on my 10 year old PC but after a couple of updates it dragged due to lots of shader slowdown, I only recently got it playing fairly well on this same computer by using the Asynchronous shader cache option.
@crestofhonor2349Күн бұрын
I'd say it's a bit of both even though the RP5 vastly out performs the PS3 in raw horsepower but emulation always requires more powerful hardware

@TheRealAlpha2Күн бұрын
Castlevania might be rough depending on the emulator and how well it's running more than anything. For Peace walker I'd say play the PSP version for now instead. RR7 also not really viable until the emulator is better optimized.

Boot into Linux: I found out how had it added to the Batocera wiki ...
@DavidFilskovКүн бұрын
How to automatically boot into Linux / skip Android I did this: • Boot Android • Hold down the power button (on-screen buttons appear) • Tap Restart on the screen • Hold Volume - button while it reboots (this opens the 'Loader' menu) • Use Volume +/- to go to 'Switch Boot mode' • Tap the power button ('BOOT MODE' now says 'Loader' instead of 'Android') • Use volume +/- to go to 'Start' • Tap the power button to reboot. Now RP5 will always boot from the SD card ... UNTIL you restart Linux while holding down the Volume - button and change 'Switch Boot mode' back to Android.

Btw. - on my RP5 holding volume - or + button while powering On does almost NEVER work. But it always works when it's restarting / rebooting.

As soon as you start the video you say "it is terrible" and then "please don't get your hopes up too much" 😂😂. First of, that goes without saying after the first part and second, I don't want to sit through half an hour of what you've already called terrible. So as a viewer my next course of action is to look at the time stamps and description to see if there is any mention at all of anything running well enough instead of having to watch it all. I'm not bitching, just trying to give feedback. Instead of saying "please don't get your hopes up too much" after already saying it's terrible, maybe mention if there is ANYTHING that can run decent enough or simply say nothing does lol. I still liked the video to support 😊
