Discovering Astronarch through your videos a few years back has been an extreme source of motivation that shifted this projected that wasn't supposed to be a full game but rather a one month quick project to what it is today! Out of curiosity, what did the game initially look like after a month. Just wondering the time frame between then and now. Because holy polish Batman this is an amazing demo from both gameplay and player friendly presentation. As Reto said I loved the drip feed of info rather then just a huge info dump. Also... Big Oozy Guy is the best enemy name lmao. 😂

@@APG93 Basically, I graduated from uni, and wanted to make a quick project for my portfolio to get a job in the video game industry. It wasn't meant to be a full/complete game, merely a prototype. That's why it was a 1 month quick project. It didn't look good and it wasn't meant to look good! The game changed in scope many times during its development, but the first change in scope was when I discovered Astronarch and its community! It motivated me to work a couple more months on the game, after which I showed it to my friends, they liked it and the scope of the game changed once again. The next change of scope was when some publishers showed high interest/offered deals, but I decided to go solo!

Hadean Tactics is another game in that genre I can recommend. The biggest difference is you have a deck of card similar to Slay the Spire and you can play a turn every 7 seconds of combat.

I don't think the game has set bonuses and, after mulling it over for a time, I am somewhat fine with it. Sure, it's fun to see a synergistic team come together, but it's also incredibly restricting.

it doesn't have normalized set bonuses, it has Origins which serve the same purpose but actually better suited for run variety. Otherwise you basically have exactly as many build options as there are set bonuses. This system is a genius solution to a problem many didn't realize was there for this genre combo. Hats of to the dev because I think it was one of the big missing pieces hindering this mashup, and it is something I just accepted had to be there.

While I agree set bonuses are restrictive but they also gave you interesting challenges for those who wanted to take them on. For instance beating the game with nothing but healers, while you still can do that stuff like all brawlers is harder to define. So in a sense I miss the bonuses but am happy to see them go too.

This game looks really fun. Slay the Spire and Team fight tactics are my top two most played games. The game design looks great and I hope they can nail the balance like slay the spire. I had my wallet out only to realize the demo is free!

This is so so great. Some of the characters remind me of Spirits of The Hellements. The Treant and fae drake especially. It's so fun and so well put together.

I've been looking for a new autobattler to play. This looks great! My favorite is Astronarch and I'm doing another playthrough of Teamfight Manager. So many amazing games.

I would say the most similar game to The Last Flame is Astronarch! Although, they look very different, their philosophy and game design are similar imo!

So like in every roguelike there is a random combo that breaks the game. one relic (infinite use: for gain 140 gold in exchange for a trophy) and the purple trader (infinite use: Exchange 100 gold for 4 trophies) obviously as long as you arn't dead broke and have at least one supporting relic that scales off gold or trophies you just slap the bosses out of existence after this. 10/10 hopefully the main game didn't patch it out. Would not recommend a video of it lol.
