The other day I realized I have been doing mostly melee builds too and hadn't run SMG in a while. I think we slipped into a meta where melee is actually good without realizing it. SMG still doesn't hit as many targets as some melee weapons so surprisingly it isn't just automatic GOAT anymore.

@@derAtze yeah, even with piercing on SMGs I find myself getting swarmed due to small DPS.

My comfort pick for ranged is slingshot. Its carried me hard on D5 on quite a few characters.

Since screwdriver now scales with engineering on terms of its melee damage, you could try a 6 screwdriver engineer explosives build. I've beaten danger 5 with it!

Since it isn't scaling based on damage stats then screwdriver might be better suited for multitasker

I'm thinking that to make horde waves better, if you beat the wave, all level ups become legendary for that wave. You're not getting a free legendary upgrade, but all of your level ups will be.

i was thinking add a "kill counter" of sorts to hoard, so if u kill enough it drops a legendary crate. And then on elite kills, add a "Bag" effect of like...150 mat instead of full heal when getting the crate. This way both types net a legendary, and some materials

Try an Old screwdriver run. I focused engineering, HP Regen and armor... Also get any explosion item and get a bit of knockback on the screwdriver for some defense. I also did friendly alien a bunch as more enemies= more booms and when you get the explosion size up that's just more bodies to to step on landmines

I'm going to suggest a run with max pickup range, maybe on the old with the smaller map, and with ranged weapons. Might be fun

Soldier has a phenomenal pickup range, but is also one of the hardest runs.

Retromation, Question.. But first, I'm so glad you didn't stop playing Brotato after getting all DL5 wins. So on the note of eventual modding and all.. If you could combine two characters, whether to make it more fun, more chaotic, wild, whatever - which and why?

After testing out playing on a couple computers, unfortunately I found out that this game requires performance computer specs for all the mechanisms to work as intended. Sometimes* you can quickly hit the "ESC" button to pause the game to then return to the main menu, were you can exit the game to then reload the game, with sometimes* better performance when you return back to the the shop to redo the wave. For such a basic looking game, it sucks that it takes a really good computer to have all of the intending mechanisms and stats work as intended as seen in these videos on youtube.

I remember I had a dumb run where I kept getting the gloves on an smg run. Ended up with 15 knockback and just decided to go ham with range. One of the few times I took sifd's item and stand still items. Was funny

The strongest way to play is to get a money build going.

Love the vids but your average potato bro can't survive with 30hp and no defense. My potato fingers can't weave through the minibosses like you can.
