For science I bought a 2nd hunting trophy going into wave 19. I had 100% crit and +15% enemies. I was averaging ~110-130 materials from 1 hunting trophy on previous waves. The 2nd hunting trophy on wave 19 bumped me from that 110-130 materials up to ~520 materials (2 hunting trophies gives u 66% to get 1 material from a crit kill and 33% to get 2 materials). Again, this was with 100% crit and +15% enemies, but helpful for understanding what 1 hunting trophy can give and what the power of a 2nd one does.

Awesome strategy! I went and did this with cactus. Baby Beard was hitting for 180 and cacti was hitting for 100 with the spines. It was pretty insane. I also had ricochet.

My favorite setup on this character is where your melee weapon is Cacti club, because it benefits from crazy ranged damage and melee damage, and when paired with Shuriken grants you 6 "ranged" attacks.

Generalist was my second D5 win (after Knight) and is one of my favorite characters. Took only two attempts. He's one of the strongest in the game IMO, once you get around the awkwardness of playing a hybrid build. (I used cacti club and shotgun. Absolute monster of a run - I got one with 3 miniguns earlier but lost to the bosses, which was painful.) EDIT: Chef's melee friendly unless you're Speedy, LOL... at least in my experience. That was a painful lesson.

Maybe a lazer gun run could be worth attempting, it scales so ridiculously, +crit and bosses die in 2 seconds i believe.

Just to clarify, shuriken is tagged as a ranged weapon because its range is ranged (so scaling range effects it more and minus to range doesnt make you shoot them faster)

Hey @retromation, i think baby with a beard takes on the weapons properties. I looked very closely and it seemed to be criting and criting different if it was caused by a shuriken or a knife.

i like to build generalist whit 3 slingshots and cactus clubs. projectiles everywhere and you get a lot of hp from primitive tag

Spear and Slingshot is also a pretty good combo

love spear on generalist, makes the mix of weapons feel much better so you don't have to go too close to enemies with only 3 melee weapons

Try it! I just did that and cacti spines were hitting for over 100. Its insane. I also had ricochet and baby beard

Why not go for Cacti Club for melee weapon? It grows from both melee (club itself) and ranged (spikes) damage.

I've done it plenty, it used to be really good before cacti club was nerfed in early access. It is now very overrated imho.

I think the reason the generalist is a lot of peoples late D5 wins is because it's just not very interesting, I've got most of the D5s and not generalist cuz it sounds boring.

Character idea: for every enemy killed in a given wave: +1% damage

@@aidanwhite5631 I hadn't given it too much thought, mostly just focusing on core concept I would probably have a baseline -20% damage and +5 armor, or start off with -5 armor sadly I lack the ability to mod and test this on my own
