I picked up a PS3 today. Got a pretty good price on a bundle and now I'm hunting specific games for my collection. I think the PS3 is super fun and compared to many other "retro" systems, fairly cheap to collect for. I think you are right, there is no time to waste if you want to collect for PS3....do it now! Hi I often buy games for ps3 from CEX some of them cost like 2,3 £less than a coffee. Bought the console for 80£ and spend for now around 200£ for more then 40+ games ...I have PS4 and 2 Nintendo Switches. The games of PS4 and Switch are a lot more expensive however it is worthy to buy PS4 games because you can play almost all on PS5 in the future.

I can't believe we've hit a point where the PS3 is considered "retro". I remember getting it back in middle school and thinking that the graphics were so realistic, they couldn't possibly get better. My dad walked in and saw me playing one of the Madden titles one day and said that he thought I was watching an actual NFL game.

The Ps3 era of games is in a perfect spot right now, they are cheapeast as they are not as retory as the ps1-2 era but also not as modern as ps4-5 games and a lot of them are still available at the network, but we have already seen spikes in prices for those that are being removed and once that are niche and rare, so yeah these next couple of years are your best chance to snag games at the cheapest price, cause most will def spike in price soon enough, particullary the niche games, if you spot any cheap, snag em up if you can.

I've been behind the times for years now but it's been to my benefit. The most "Modern" system I bought was the Wii U right as the Switch came out. For Sony I never went past the PS3. So for the whole PS4/Switch and now PS5/Xbox Planks Constant Infinity plus 1 or whatever it's called era I've just been collecting PS3 and Wii U games (if I want anything current I use Steam but it's only a small handful of games) almost exclusively. I ran out of shelf space and have games on my floor in a corner stacked on top of each other taller than I am. Until like two years ago saying they were dirt cheap was an understatement. I'll put it this way I bought my PS3 when the PS4 came out. I walked into a Gamestop in my town's Mall. Got a 500 gig Super Slim (that still works flawlessly) with two controllers, all 3 Batman games and all 5 God of War games (all the games CIB) for $100. I'll never forget one day at a retro store I bought three games for a total of $15. Those games were: 3D Dot Game Heroes (an Atlus game mind you), Puppeteer and Folklore. The fact that a Square Enix game like Drakengard 3 can be found sealed for $20 is a testament to the quality games you can still get on the cheap that no one cares about currently but will in the very near future due to the streaming/all digital crap. Get the things now! If you don't already have these some suggestions: 1.) Alice Madness Returns as for the moment with the PS3 copy you can download the first game American McGee's Alice for free. 2.) Persona 5. Most people forget it was originally made for the PS3 and they just ported it over to the PS4 so that version maybe worth something in the future as I'm sure it sold less than it's PS4 counter part. 3.) Transformers: Devastation! Activision and Platinum Games bringing the 80s cartoon to life! 4.) Blur! My personal favorite racing game of all time. It's like the Need For Speed games and Mario Kart had a baby.

Before you criticize Edge of Time in its own video, I feel it’s important to bring up that; after the critically acclaimed success of Web of Shadows, the game devs were given only a single year (basically less) to create a sequel, which ended up being Edge of Time. Although the game itself is pretty small, and has its problems- I recognize that because the devs had so little time to make it, they made the smart choice for lowering the scale of their game, rather than trying to make a bigger, flashier sequel that would have most definitely flopped.

as someone who never and much less played a PS3(had a XB360) i think i may get myself a PS3 and couple of games, just to be able to play all those games i missed out on, games like the Infamous games, God of War III and Ascension, Uncharted trilogy, Persona 5, The Last of Us, a good chunk of Japanese games, games that were multiplat, but i never had chance to get around(many of which sucks on PC) and much more.

Some more to add to your PS3 collection, Metal Gear Solid The Legacy Collection, comes with a nice hardback book about the game series, a code for Metal Gear Solid (PS1) a HD remaster of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 and 3 gives access to the MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake (Kojima Versions). Metal Gear Solid IV Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker. This is exclusive to PS3 because MGS4 is a Blu Ray game and never released for XBOX-360, soon to be a rare collectible if not already.

PS3 generation and up are still dependent on patches. The fact that about every PS3 game also has trophies means it will need a patch. You're thinking is half there with the PSN store. But you're still dependent on Sony supporting the hardware with patches.

I wish I could buy the KillZone and Resistance games on my PS4. Sony does a terrible job considering backwards compatibility.

Sony NEVER said Spartacus would be a direct competitor to Gamepass. I don't know why people keep saying that, Jim Ryan even said in an interview that they don't plan to compete with Gamepass.

The 7th gen (360, PS3 & Wii) is the best gen of gaming, in my opinion. It was the gen that we still had a lot of creative, great games. Being released complete on disc (and download for those that wanted). And games weren't released half assed like 95% of games now. So gamer friendly...We could play solo, co-op, local multiplayer, online. Games played soon as you pop it in. Paywalls were rare. Microtransactions not nearly as much of an issue. Didn't need constant huge updates. Games with manuals. A lot of the games still look pretty good. Glad I still have and play my 360, Wii and PS3. Been adding games to the collection lately.

Only criticism is the splinter cell collection. If people own a Xbox one or Higher I would encourage buying the discs for the all of them there because of not having to rely on one console over time with age. These games carry with the Xbox over time and should look as good if I’m not mistaken. Nice pick up lot though! Enjoyed the video. Again I know this is ps3 games just my take though if you want to only own a game once

I had original 'Splinter Cell' on PC at launch, and if it's janky now: I don't want to know LoL I have so much nostalgia for this game. It was absolutely genre-breaking when it came out. The stealth rules and - if I remember correctly - the sticky-electric/stun darts were ridiculous. I loved this game. So much planning and so much fun. One of my all-time faves FOR ITS TIME. I will not defend it as a 'GOAT', but for its time, it was incredible.

@@makefoxhoundgreatagain842 blacklist is a perfect balance of the stealth from the og trilogy, and the action of conviction. Blacklist is the most replayable and has the best overall gameplay imo. It’s just incredibly satisfying to play. I definitely disagree

I have a big PS3 library and about 4 functional PS3 Super Slims so I've no worries about being able to play them for a good long time. That said, I do hope that the rumours of Sony looking to implement some form of hardware-based PS3 emulation comes to something. They shot themselves in the foot big time back when they developed the PS3 and it would take millions of dollars and months if not years of work to get peoper emulation running on PS5 but if they deem the demand is there they'll do it.

Cool Video Matty always enjoy watching these types of videos, but personally I just can't justify collecting ps3 games, RPSC3 is getting better and better and most ps3 games run at inconsistent frame rates of 20-30fps and are stuck at 720p. Drakenguard 3 is a perfect example I played that game in native 4k, locked 60fps on RPCS3, however on the PS3 it has severe performance issues and runs between 15-30fps it's a big reason it received very bad reviews at the time. Most ps2 games, ps1, snes, nes, sega genesis all run at 60fps or locked 30fps and the pixel art tends to have aged very well combine them with something like the retro tink 5x or a CRT and they visually still look great, whilst playing smooth as butter so they're great to collect. I've actually started collecting a few titles for the Xbox 360 because of the backwards compatibility enhancement programme, playing the og red dead redemption @ 4k locked 30 is really nice same with Fable II and other titles. I really wish Sony could get the ps5 to emulate ps3 games at a locked 30fps 1080p at the very least but if they can't I'll just stick to Emulating most of the PS3 library on my PC.

Definitely PS3 through emulation. Both the 360 and ps3 was known for overheating so not worth playing on original hardware. Playing via streaming service is for people who have money to burn.

14:40 I kinda get the whole Batman PS3 thing, there's just something special about playing a game on the console/generation it was designed for, hell im struggling to see which version of Banjo Tooie i should playthrough and beat. The 360 version blows the N64 version out of the water in basically everything controls/graphics/performance and it has achievements. But there's just something about playing Tooie on the 64 that feels special...i don't know how else to explain it. Then again i grew up with the 64 so my nostalgia is definitely playing a part in it lol.
