Tying combat to which movement key you pressed is messy as fuck. I only got into Jedi academy / outcast this month (specifically cause of the movie duels mod) and the combat is JANK. You have to be insanely accurate with timing strikes in hope of landing a hit. And against groups of 2-3 Jedi you’re gonna be getting knocked down before the animation finishes. Only way to play through the mod is to spam random attacks and force healing and pray you don’t get cut in half I had a better experience as a kid swinging the Wii remote around playing TFU.

I think Fallen Order and Survivor nail certain aspects the Jedi Knight games lack and vice versa. There are days in which I prefer the parry system and cinematic feel of the combo chains in Respawn's games, and others where it's just super satisfying to kill another lightsaber wielder with one good strike in a Jedi Outcast/Academy duel.
@Dass_Jennir9 ай бұрын
@@paradox4780 I understand where you are coming from, as it took me many playthroughs to grasp the combat, but there's more to it than that. Understanding when to use the stances, timing attacks, performing proper footwork and keeping distance are part of the process which make duels in these games quite nuanced. I played Academy and Outcast for the first time only a few years ago, so there's no nostalgia tainting my reasoning, although I agree it's not the ultimate and perfect lightsaber combat system to end them all.

This is one of my favorite games (still). It was the “Mass Effect” of its time. It’s a fantastic customizable action/adventure and it’s set in Star Wars. I love how it’s a FPS with guns AND third person with lightsaber. You can choose to be good or evil and it has various endings. Honestly, the story is so good it’s what should have been the sequel trilogy. It’s a mystery that spans some time and covers the galaxy with cameos from the original movie cast.

imagine a Jedi Academy reboot in 2024 like this: 1. A more stylish HUD, with vertical and horizontal bars. 2. Being able to cling to wall edges. 3. New equipment such as Force-imbued armor and a grappling hook. 4. Manual blocking of both ranged and melee attacks. 5. Dash and a more controllable super speed. 6. A passive Force sense in the form of a minimap. 7. Being able to deflect blaster shots only if you press the block at just the right moment. 8. Greater ability to confront non-Force user shooters even if they carry heavy weapons. 9. Stealth in the form of stealth-oriented Force powers and a lightsaber that emits no light or sound when active. Recommended when greatly outnumbered, but useless against Force user enemies. 10. Remove Force protection and replace it with imbued armor, and remove Force absorption and replace it with QTE when attacked with offensive Force powers.

@diafam36625 ай бұрын
@@thanksgivingh6185yeah as much as people say the community is great, it’s honestly terrible. You have to kiss a lot of ass to get anywhere and most of the top people cheat just because they’re so bored and looking for any way to get ahead or get an edge at this point. So many people don’t even play the game anymore and instead just Admin on the servers for that extra sense of control and “relevance”. There are even rules in place that are meant to PREVENT you from fighting as much as possible, to the point where you’re not even allowed to kill people that don’t give you permission; they can turn their lightsaber off and if you hit them or mess with them in any way they will BAN YOU. So you end up with a lot of people just standing around chatting or dueling, and unfortunately chatting is much more common.. it’s kind of like a retirement home at this point. So many people unironically call it a “chatroom with lightsabers” which says too much about where their priorities are. They do a lot to resist getting with the times (on purpose) by actually encouraging “socializing” on the game itself instead of an actual social program, such as discord. Plenty of people actively avoid it to the point where people that have been active and playing for decades and are in “leadership” positions have at times never been actually heard once. The older players will help you to a degree but they’ll also specifically put systems in place to make it take forever or they’ll literally withhold information from you depending on who you are, or simply because they don’t want you to become a “threat”. In other words, actual competition and fairness went out the window a long time ago.

I played JKA multiplayer to death. Lugormod, Makermod, MBII, Siege.... thousands and thousands of hours. Played in clans, and did faction wars. To this day Some of us who I kept in touch with get together and hop on a server and mess around for a couple hours.
