Vera Ellen. As good as dancing can get. She was the best.

Effortless. She moves so smoothly. Legs clear up to her armpits doesn't hurt! I was just thinking of the Vegas-type residencies these dancer/singer/actors could have today. Dad was so tickled when they got to see Mitzi Gaynor perform in either Reno or Las Vegas. He rested his forearm on the stage as she was performing and I'm kinda surprised he ever washed that arm again. As a kid born in 1921 in Montana going to the movies was just about all they had to do as far as indoor activities. Dad could give me the bio of every actress. My great grandfather drove visitors around Yellowstone Park in horse-drawn buses when the park was young. Montana is a geologist's wonderland. Molten rock just a mile below the earth's surface. Hot springs that will boil you alive.

Wonderful dance numbers and gorgeous costumes! Great work by the actors, especially David Niven. Vera-Ellen is a spectacular dancer as well. The silly show biz plot isn't as outlandish as it appears, if you've been around a lot of theatre.
