One of my favourite series, I remember discussing the series with a former employer. He was far from impressed as at the time i didn't know that he had been a downed RAF pilot who owed his life to the bravery of the resistance.

5:22 : interestingly enough, when officer Crabtree pronounces "crimes" as "cream", that IS actually the way one pronounces "crime" or "crimes" in French.

Ashamed though I am to admit it I still say it to this day. I live in Canada so I get some strange looks at times but it's a habit I can't break myself of.

Bostrom is such a handsome creature. Surprised he wasn’t used in the London episodes of Friends as Ross’ uncle. He looks a lot like Elliot Gould.

I can honestly say this is the only comedy show in which I will and do watch entire episodes just to see the usually cameo like appearance of Officer Crabtree in each one. Whether warning Rene He will be 'Licked up for disturbing the puss" or overseeing a wedding while disguuused as a Priest and addressing the attendees with "Dearly Belivid...." I want to put a case forward that if ever a character should get a spin off series. . . "It is the Fraunch Poluce-man who once parashatted out of a British Plane chased by some German Farters..."

Ah who can forget that moment when Renee and his staff had to flush a decoding machine through the sewers by having the whole town flush their toilets at the same time. But before they could do so. Crabtree came in with "Bad todings" since there had been "Another kick up" The "Bummers of the Ear farce had scored a direct hot on the pimps." Which meant that there was no water flowing through "the poops." Or when he's undercover as a General of the Vichy-French forces and he's bringing forth a plan send over the air force to "Bum the London dicks." Or when Herr Flick actually asks him about his way of talking. He clarifies that he's "Half Itoolian" and that he was born in "Nipples." Gah, somebody should compile all of those and issue it in a book.

But remember the most important factor would be missing. The incredible writing of Croft and Lloyd. Getting every word wrong in a sentence, isn't as funny as getting the *right* words wrong. They had the gift of knowing which words should be said right and which should be said wrong. 👏
