I think the costumes and set designs here are very reminiscent of those used in The Wizard of Oz, with a bit of the old He Man cartoons thrown in for spice...and of course, the dancing is brilliant.

This is a great performance of the Firebird ballet but the recording frequency is a bit too high; it is recorded at 460 hz and really is better at a lower frequency of 440 hz.

I was quite shocked at how inferior this came off, stylistically - its not a movie, dont shoot it as though you wish it was a movie. Watching a straightforward capture of the ballet, say Vishneva & the Marinksky available on KZbin, was far more engaging and emotionally satisfying, and didn't destroy half the artistry of the prima by shooting her in essentially posed static shots

but it IS a movie, dearie, we're not sitting in the theater. The least successful filming of performances are always those that follow your wooden preferences. Hard to believe someone would actually hold that dinosaur opinion in 2021

The ancient myth of gaining life, fire and the future from nature and against death is possibly the oldest legend of all. - except possibly 'the hunter and bear in the cave', the hunter survives by hiding under the skin of the bear's cub, we are intimately part of nature and steal from it at the penalty of death, which is also known the world over.

from 6 Flags over Texas years ago there was a SPEE-LUNKER's CAVE now replaced with looney tunes, they used to be part of Stravinsky's Firedbird Ballet music, watching the return of the firebird now, (is it me or is the new firebird dancer really a man in drag? dances more like a man than a woman, not a truly soft feminine dancer, like he's trying way too hard to pull off what should be more natural, lol, am I allowed to still have my own opinions concerning what constitutes male or female too now?! lets go back to the original firebird dancers and see if there is a different in the dance, lol, I know even shakespear had men playing female parts and so does kabuki, I just prefer that the little princess on the music box always remains a real girl, as in, its a boy, its a girl, will they ban giving out pink or blue cigars next? if black or white is racist? is pink or blue going to be the next dirty word? im just saying, cant a girl have an opinion these days without people starting a riot? lol) (mom on)

My subjective opinion is that this is the a very reliable presentation of the firebird. She's definitely a woman, very thin, athletic, fast, full of energy and agility - exactly as she's supposed to be. It's a "fire" bird - very lively, strong and somewhat dangerous creature, without being bad by nature. Discovery channel, animal planet and birdwatching can really help with appreciating the performance :D
