This was an incredibly well done review. I have an RSP20 and you hit the nail on the head with your comments and assessments for this guitar. So happy to have the (Yamaha) P90s on this one. It's a tone monster right out of the case by hitting the (tube!) amp just right. Great natural distortion with the Focus switch on and having the amp set to start breaking with the guitar's volume at 80%. Just roll the volume up and voilà - great tube distortion without any pedals at all - not that you don't have any that are ready to go. HIGHY RECOMMENDED. I also have a Yamaha BB-734A bass that also has greatness! Now if I could just find that extra $3200 for a Billy Sheehan Attitude bass, I'd be flyin' for sure. And you certainly do not have to have the Japanese model (RSP20) to be satisfied with these guitars. Craftmanship is superb for all Yamaha instruments - motorcycles, boat motors, etc., included too!

Thanks for the demo man! Best demo there is so far. IMHO I love the aesthetics of the STANDARDS but find the pickup selection & dry switch from the ELEMENT much more usable for my needs. Those 2nd and 4th positions & "filter"ish focus switch just sound odd to me and don't fit a Revstar sort or sound, but I understand they may be usable for others. TBH if there was a P90 w/ tailpiece ELEMENT I would buy one in a heartbeat but for now I've definitely got my eyes on a standard.

How would you compare it to your RS820CR? Interested in your thoughts in regards to how they feel in the lap, in the hand, vibe, plugged and unplugged tone, etc.
@AmbientEndeavors Жыл бұрын
Good questions! Might have to do a comparison vid. They both feel pretty similar, although the new necks do feel different, a little bit of an adjustment. Both have a little bit of the bottom-heavy feel in the lap, but not as bad as a LP. Biggest differentiator are the pickups and added circuitry. The 820cr has nice clear yet full humbuckers, and can get more single coil sound with DRY mode. The rss02 gets more warm and dark when you pull the tone knob.

Hey! Thanks so much for watching. I historically have used the iridium on a large majority of my videos. It’s super convenient and I got used to how it sounds clean and it made recording in stereo dead simple. I’ve recently jumped over to the UA 65 Dream Amp pedal and am really happy with it so far; it’s more dynamic and “feels” more like an amp. I’d recommend checking it or the Ruby out. Iridium is nice but I didn’t love how it took gain and I didn’t really want to go down the IR rabbit hole , so the UA is convenient in that area.

Any idea the difference between the newer RSSo2T and the older version RS502T.......EXCELLENT video!!
@munkyenima2 жыл бұрын
The bodies are now chambered in a super intelligent way to improve resonance and get rid of neck dive. On the standard (and Pro), the pull pot tone knob is a Mid Focus switch instead of the Air Switch on the old one (and the new element version, which is the budget version and still has the Air switch) The bridges are different. It now has a Tune-o-matic and either the stop bar, or the new trapeze looking bridge on this p90 version (the old one had a tone pros bridge.) You get either the chrome humbuckers or the p90s. The necks on the standard & Pro now have carbon fibre reinforcements in the neck. The new Pro version also has carbon fibre reinforcements under the bridge area. The Element version forgoes the maple top. The Element and Standard are Indonesian made and the Pro is made in Japan. Hope that helps! Prices in US dollars: Element $500, Standard $800, Pro $2000.

my ideal guitar would be a combo of both ha. I think ultimately I like this one more , mainly due to the p90s. I don't love humbuckers, and the P90s especially with the 5-way provides more usable sounds for my preference. They're both killer guitars. I like what they did with the pull put feature on the 820 more than the RSS02 - I usually want pickups to sound a little clearer vs. more beefy. Are you a worship guitarist? Some of the stuff sounds like the worship music my son plays on guitar

@@AmbientEndeavors sweet, my son and I play pop punk and emo stuff and he is also a worship guitarist. Playing for church from the beginning of his guitar life (going on 10yrs) really put him about 100 steps above what I could ever do.
