I was going to skip this one do to it using what I like to call Atari Graphics that reminds way, way to much of games I played as a teen that because of there crappy graphics it added it's own level of difficulty but then I noticed the sounds. This dev although not spending a lot of time in the graphics department has put some serious work into sound and just how much sound and the proper utilization of it can suck you into a game. The sound that made me lean up and pay attention was very early on with the whine and squeak of the cemetery gate opening and exactly what I'd expect to hear as I forced open a rusty gate that has sat unused for years if not decades. Then as I listened closely it became very apparent that his Dev spent more than just a few loving hours perfecting the sound. Good job Dev I'm definitely adding this one to the wish list. Thanks Splat as always for putting another dent in my wallet. I've got more games than time to play now with nearing the 500 mark in my library and even though retired now the last time I did the math it's going to take me roughly 6+ years at 8 hours a day 7 days a week to get through them all, And that's a good thing LOL...

6:32 because when the Normans (French) conquered england in 1066; you had a ruling nobility class that spoke french; and a peasant Anglo Saxon class that spoke old english. So some of the words that seem "wrong" in english is because they have origins in the french language; which the English speaking population at large adopted to seem like they were fancy and well to do. Basically.

English is such a weird language due to its roots of being a mix of German, french, Welsh, galach and Scandinavian. Which is a byproduct of invasions, religious shifts, conquests and forceful colonisation. 🇬🇧

Moreover, the use of vowels and combinations change. F and S were once interchangeable like C and K are today. Laugh, Cough, Enough etc are spelt like that because writing them as laff, coff and enuf would sound like Lass, Coss and Enus back in the day. It's simply the product of linguistic drift.

@27:30 I think not being able to see the character is on purpose. If you want to see, you stay in the light. It's difficulty is intended if you are hidden from the light. I love this game, thank you for showing it to me. I think it could use your other critiques. The sounds would be nice, the count up, a better tutorial at all to teach you what things are would be nice... I also would like less transitions with the button or better animations of him going into the cave, door, etc. Think of Nightmare on elm street on the NES, the transition animation into the house was campy, but it worked in conveying which direction the character was going.

I like that reload discards remaining bullets. I always thought games should do that, or eventually have you loading partial magazines based on what you were replacing in previous reloads.

Many games do this. Escape from Tarkov as an example. The cool part is that in Tarkov you can repack the magazines, and even pick up stray rounds off the ground.

We changed the spelling of a bunch of words so that they would be closer to their original spellings from Latin and such. We did decide that the whole idea was stupid and wanted to change it back, but as fate would have it the printing press was invented around that time and efforts to fix it didn't pan out.

I love Flashback and Another World but the art style of the game reminds me of the old DOS game Blade Warrior, where you have a knight and your character and all enemies are black (you can't make out details) and the landscape is only "illuminated" by the moon.

I see the game is not yet released. Key rebinding or customization is a must in my opinion, notably as it is the minimal feature of accessibility. In terms of programming/design, I think it is best to program things like this from the ground up (making almost all things variables that can be changed easily), from the start. Maybe it is but the UI just isn't implemented yet?

Splat- its because the English language is an amalgamation of many other languages, some germanic, some latin based, therefore you get the bastardized spellings of certain words which do not follow the rules of the language you would expect. Thats why in more "pure" languages, like Spanish, everything follows the rules and the only ones that dont -often times-are recent additions of american-english words that have been "spanglished"...

My understanding is that whenever there is an English word that has a weird spelling, you can probably safely blame the French for it, considering that French is one of the biggest contributors of words in English, and they have a bunch of weird spelling rules. It may not be the case in this situation, but it probably is.
