Al...artist or technician...I finally got round to learning..From the Ocean to the Clouds...from..Golden Dawn Suite...really gave me an insight into..Al’s...approach to..fusion.I believe I appreciate and rate his status as an..ARTIST..much higher now.He really is a soulful..idiosyncratic player..with tremendous self belief....a virtuoso..visionary..and very much a ..composer and..Artist.

Heard this concert live on the radio back in 1975. This performance of this piece has been one of my favorite bits of any kind of music for almost 40 years.

So much faster than the album cut! wow, I love it! If I had to pick only one, Celebration Suite would be my choice for my most loved Return To Forever piece!

@tornmask I remember seeing their appearance on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert when they performed Vulcan Worlds and Space Circus. This was broadcast on Channel 5 WNEW [New York] in either late 1974 or early 1975. DiMeola had just joined the band in 1974. This band was to me what the Beatles were to the world in the mid '60s.

steelapleton: Interesting that you picked up a photo of mine. The second shot of RTF is from a 1975 outdoor concert at the University of Florida.

Sad to see that magazine cover with Al Dimeola sharing space with that Blondie muff! Non Sequitur...
