They were bidding it out for about $300K in remodeling late this fall. It would have been remodeled last summer, but the Historical Society wanted the blueprints changed to not cover up some of the historic stage coach ruts. The current Ranger just took a promotion so it will be interesting to see what proceeds this coming summer with the newer incoming staff. As part of the Consessionaire staff we have always enjoyed this park despite it's rough appearance with the beetle kill & all. Cheers.

I forgot all about the stagecoach ruts. Wish I would have at least mentioned them. Thanks for letting us know what the hold up is.

I camped here in the late 70’s with my family in a pop up. The first night, it rained buckets. The second day, it hailed so much it looked like snow, and beat down the tent on the camper. My mom was not impressed, we ended up getting a cabin back towards town. 😂😂😂 Good memories (at least for me).

I’ve seen the ground covered with hail at the top of the pass that was deep like snow. Sounds like a fun trip

Thanks for producing these videos! My wife and I are planning on retiring in May and hitting the road in our RV to travel for a few years. These give us great ideas on the accessibility and size of the sites for our 35ft fiver. Thanks again!

We drove over Monarch Pass Route 50 and it was very nerve wracking with cars and trucks going really fast around the sharp curves. Won't go over it again.

I wouldn’t want to tow a trailer on it. I don’t mind it as long as nobody is behind me.

My wife and I stayed here a couple of weeks after this video was taken (ie, July), and I was disappointed how run down and overgrown everything seemed. Hopefully they’ll get it cleaned up.
