When I was an apprentice in 1988 at Scunthorpe we used to take those Janus to bits for real. They were never clean and always filthy 😁

Hope you get your 37 sorted out. Those airbrushes are brilliant! I got one a couple of months ago. Really good for a weathering job. A lot less fuss than getting the compressor and other airbrush out. Have fun with it!

Hi Craig Nice views of the 60, it was on the Limestone trains a couple of weeks ago (Tunsteasd to Northwich). Nice weathering job on those two loco's too!. Pity the 37 isn't quite right but its probably just an odd one and I'm sure AS will sort it out. Thanks

Morning Craig. Ee-by-gum lad, after bigging up the 37 last week, you've had to resort to sending her back. Shame! If you raise one end of your layout by about 18ins, you won't need a stay-alive if you just run her down hill. 😁 So, you've finally resorted to using an air-brush. I think you've done a good job there mate and the owner should be well pleased. Along with weathering powders, yet another skill to add to your talented repertoire. 👍 I take it the funeral is the one of your mate who passed a little while ago. I hope it all goes well for everyone. Will be thinking of you on this sad occasion. 😢 Would like to see more uploads of running action on your layout please. Your camera needs a bit more attention to the light balance. In the long-shots at Ribblehead, the image was very white and washed out. Had to smile at the way the 'quarry' switched sides, too, as the camera mirror-imaged it!

Yeah the white balance goes wild sometimes, can't adjust on the fly either sadly especially with the facing cam :(

Can I ask what varnish you are using once the weathering is complete ? PS I’m Seán Patrick from the Monday Club group (Twistleton 1944 GWR). About to have a go at weathering my first N gauge loco, I’ve done many wagons coaches and buildings and built many military models over the years with an airbrush but locos have always seemed a bit terrifying 😂 David aT Bunters did the last two for me but determined to have a go myself this time on a Q1.

My preference is Railmatch spray Matt Varnish/lacquer. But I also use Hycote Matt too, though it's not as good and you need to be careful with it otherwise it washes the powders out

Interesting, I have 4 deltics,and 4 class 92's and 2 37's, not once can I get the stay alives to work. I'm beginning to think it must be my dcc as I can't believe every single one does not work. As you say it doesn't matter that much because pick ups great

@@vcs00railway very odd, I use a Sprog II and JMRI, be interesting to see what the score is - maybe send one of your models back for inspection?

@@IronHorseRailways i might try swapping a sound decoder with a dapol 8 function non sound in say a 37 to see if that makes any difference 🤔 I can see that the pcb's have a bank of capacitors below. I did send a class 92 for repair of a light, I should have asked Accurascale to check the stay alive but forgot! My puzzle is this doesn't seem to be a widely reported problem, yours is the 1st video, and yet I have different Accurascale locos made at different times and supplied for several different retailers, yet not one with a workable stay alive
