The way you documented this store made me feel like it was a Kmart that I grew up shopping at, and continued to do so into adulthood... despite the fact I’ve never been in that store. Such a wonderful documentation!

5:05 Gotta love it when some random person comes walking by while you're filming while it looks like you're talking to yourself. I know how that feels as I had that happen to me several times already. It's both uncomfortable and awkward. LOL

There was once over 2,000 Kmart stores nationwide. After the next round closes, they'll be less than 400. It's a shame Eddie has been allowed to kill both Kmart and Sears...

just FYI if you ever stay in a hotel for more than a week, ask for the weekly rate, you will save about 20%, maybe more

great look and the fallen kmart. enjoyed the look back at previous videos. Keep up the great work

Ha! I know the answer. The far left-hand part of the dead K-Mart was a Shop N’ Save (yep!) and was the main grocery store for Moon until the new Kroger was built at the opposite end of the shopping center in 1982 (where that other grocery sits). The arrival of Kroger killed off the Shop N’ Save which soldiered on until about 1985. It was old and cramped by comparison and couldn’t compete with the much larger and better financed Kroger.

I grew up in Moon Township. Many memories dating back to 1977. Moved away in 85 and returned in 2005. KMart was still in operation. But as soon as Wally World moved in, we all knew that KMart's days in Moon were numbered. I still miss the old store. It was rarely crowded except around Christmas time, even before Wally World moved in. It would be so cool if Rural King decided to take up residence here!

Good morning, Wallie! Good to see the place again. Can't wait to see it in person in just a few short days. I'll be messaging you in the next day or so to chat about meeting times/places, etc. Starting to firm up plans now that it's getting so close! This is really exciting :)

Tarantulisimo I thought that was always Sears until it was sold to Stanley. Kmart just had it because Sears and Kmart merged

Our old Kmart looked exactly like this building but it had a Michael Crafts on the end which closed around 1999. Then Kmart closed around 2006. Now the whole building is a high school/college prep building but they renovated everything top to bottom updated everything very nicely with new paint, a lot more open windows/glass in the front, new open ceilings with all new lighting. Very impressive and other open Kmart's should follow that design. What would you turn your abandon Kmart into?

flying out from california to look at buying a cosmetic fixer upper house on a budget, was harder than i thought it would be, i flew out here 3 times in 2012 for for about 10 days each, looking for a house, staying down the road from this kmart at la quinta inn on university and going here alot for snacks and drinks, it is sad they closed. I always think about all the people's job affected by this closing workers, truckers, janitors, people that make the stuff

What a great postscript video to this Kmart. You put a lot of heart into these videos. The best touch was the "memories" video segment with the grainey video compositon, all the fun memories of being there and making me laugh.u Wonder if Fast Eddie painted the graffitti. That is not art, that's garbage. Keep those videos coming, and you stay awesome too bud

I'd like to see it become a Lowe's or Home Depot, usually where ever there's a walmart, you can find a home improvement store nearby.
@Nathan-xt6gz5 жыл бұрын
That would be cool, but that K-Mart looks too small to become a Lowe’s or Home Depot. Perhaps it could become a Safeway or Albertsons or a Fred Meyer (Fred Meyer is a Kroger company, I don’t know what it’s called over there)
@Prof_Jeff2 жыл бұрын
@@Nathan-xt6gz Fred Meyer only operates in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. Kroger used to be all over western PA until the early '80s but pulled out. I don't know if they ever will return to that market, but if they do they probably would use the flagship brand and not something the bought up. Albertsons and Safeway only operate under those banners in certain regions, too. Pittsburgh is too far north and east for the Albertson brand. Safeway for the most part only operates west of the Mississippi, except for stores in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. (I can't explain the Delaware locations; the VA/MD/DC locations for the most part are in the D.C. metropolitan area, which still begs the question of why the isolated pocket in the east?)

Kmart did have a kmart foods concept that was attached to may stores in the 1960s, It was usually was a seperate grocery store branded as kmart, The concept only lasted to the mid 70s and many food stores became other things, Somethimes even kmart expanded into the space. All the kmarts near me have closed sadly and they are slowly being turned into other things.

Pretty awesome that you went back to the now abandoned Moon Township Kmart where you got your Music & Video sign and your mannequin friend but I didn't even know there was a space that used to be a furniture store that Kmart probably used for storage and backup. I watch this video because I love your video on Kmart, Ames, etc. I really hate that graffiti that somebody left after Moon Township Kmart closed, that is disrespectful to the building and urban explorers to see that awful graffiti on Moon Township abandoned Kmart's wall.
