I'm 87 years old, and 3 years ago I dropped to a smaller capacity bike, purely due to the weight of a big bike being a bit much, pushing it into the garage etc. I opted for the Yamaha MT-03 thinking that I wouldn't be needing another bike at my age. But having seen, and watched reviews on the Triumph Speed 400, it looks like I might just have been wrong

Good review as usual . These 400s are going to be real winners for Triumph . I am very glad that you showed it's performance on the highway, which highlighted that you do have a bit of speed in reserve at 70mph . Very important when someone suddenly changes lanes and you have to jump into a gap slightly ahead because braking hard will have a tailgater slamming into the back of you . It always feels safer having power in reserve . IMHO. Anyways , you showed the Daytona sticking it's nose out at Lings . So it's the Daytona next is it ? 😂

Nice job TAYM. Excellent demonstration of it's overtaking ability. Riding it through it's break-in period and getting the 1st service done was definitely taking one for the team there. The 72mph restriction on the Classic 350 is a bit of a shame as there's quite a bit more to go. Though I rarely use Ernie on the faster roads, it would be nice to be able to occasionally squirt past a line of 60mph lorries without an Audi coming up fast and furious behind.

You are not wrong !. My Royal Enfield Meteor is a handy bike but its 350cc engine has been stifled and regulated not to allow more than a shade over 70mph. And it hates long uphill stretches. Not good enough, whereas the Triumph has the top end get up and go.

Just hit 600 miles on mine. The bike is much better than it had any right to be for the price. I will disagree with you on the seat, though - but as I bought it for short (under 200 miles) rides, it's tolerable. And I REALLY want a center stand. One thing I would change would be the instruments - I'd rather have an analog tach and a digital speed readout.

What do you think of this compared with the Ninja 400 - pros/cons
@TAYM9 ай бұрын
The 400 ninja is now replaced with the 500. I did ride the 400 a little while ago and thought it was a well sorted bike. Quicker and smoother and perhaps better equipped. It is also more money than the triumph but guess a better all round bike. 😁 the problem is one of styling I think. If you don’t want a sports bike you wouldn’t go for the ninja 😁 there is also the cbr500 to consider🤔 but like the ninja, once you get to those prices there are a lot of others to consider 🤔 A very good question 😁 thanks S 😁

Sorry to be a downer but it's also an annual oil change OR 10,000 miles - whichever comes first. I don't get the fixation with mileage - for most riders, you're looking at an annual service.
@ruahinesrider9 ай бұрын
When they say 16000km service intervals they mean valve adjustment oil changes are done every 5000km or yearly.You wouldn't want to wait till 16k do to oil change😂🤣 & manual say valve adjustment service 16k & oil annually or 5000km.On my Trident 🔱 Dealership put Valve adjustment service in the dash & counts down from 16k & you'll get a reminder about 50-100km before 5000km for oil change & check over & a picture of a crescent 🔧on dash.
