My girl and I went to a Chris Tomlin concert a few months ago and it was amazing! Pure worship, everyone together with their hands up praising the Lord. It was a beautiful experience and we left feeling charged up and rejuvenated by the Holy Spirit. Because it was such a great experience, a few weeks later we went to the Fish Fest concert in OC - but this time we left early, because it wasn’t a heart of worship. It was more like artists trying to put on a show. It’s hard to explain but it feels like a self-centered thing, even though the lyrics are about God/Jesus. Then again just a week ago we went to the Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham concert in LA. Same thing, we left early. They spoke the name of Jesus and their songs are lyrically centered on Him, but the selfless praise and worship wasn’t there in Spirit. It felt like maybe their popularity has gotten to them. Or maybe they were never really truly in the trenches with God to begin with, but saw Christian music as an avenue to reach worldly success. I don’t know - I don't know either of them personally, nor have I been following them long enough to know their stories. I guess it's a good thing at least that they're reaching luke-warm Christians where they’re at. Or even worldly people who happened to get invited to a Christian concert; at least they’re being exposed to some form of worship and the gospel, even if it’s just in a surface-level and somewhat superficial way. But I will say, it’s a breath of fresh air to see Jeremy Riddle genuinely seeking after the heart of God, and expressing it in his music. That’s what inspires people and draws them closer to the Lord when they listen. It's like you can share the Holy Spirit by osmosis when you're really living that life. So good, praise God. 🙏

There is such a danger in these statements. It's such a temptation to compare the ministries of others, where some are "more anointed" than others, the road that leads to is idolatry. Putting these women and men on pedalstools. And then heartbreak when they fall. All the time we are clueless what is going on behind the scenes in these people's life. For all we know the those leaders that were less " anointed" just had a death in the family, left sick kids at home, or any other reason, and they choose to trust and obey and take that stage anyway. The biggest struggle with sin in the church is pride, arrogance, and those that think they are super saints and spiritually elite.
@westonmeckes2 ай бұрын
@@RlRdHd It wasn’t my intention to imply that Chris Tomlin or Jeremy Riddle are “more anointed” than the others. It’s more along the lines of Jesus’ rebuke of the Pharisees in Matthew 6. Does their public worship invite us to look at them personally, or does it cause us to look past them and directly at God? It’s not about putting any man or woman on a pedestal. The reason I commended Chris Tomlin and Jeremy Riddle is because, on the contrary, they were the ones whose personalities were set aside to more fully allow the pure praise of God to shine through. This doesn’t idolize them - it appreciates them for staying out of the way. There’s definitely a difference in people’s varying levels of faith and sincere devotion to God. It isn’t necessarily spiritual elitism to point that out. I think it’s quite important to be able to discern it, actually. Who you surround yourself with (and who you listen to) has a spiritual influence on you. You choose high quality foods and stay away from processed junk in order to keep your body healthy, right? So why would you lower your standards when it comes to worshipping the one true God that is worthy of the highest praise?
@lucycook88762 ай бұрын
But God is looking at your heart when you worship regardless of the emphasis on performance over praise.@westonmeckes
@estherjoy62362 ай бұрын
@@westonmeckes I totally agree with you. It is sooooooo important to use discernment! The anointing on leader’s lives is so important too! When we think something is off it probably is, but I always ask the Lord about it and stay humble because I do not have full understanding of scripture and spiritual things! But I also do not minimize myself in what I am discerning! Also, I sit at the feet of Jesus and seek him with all my heart individually! I Seek to know him authentically! Then we can know the counterfeit! Also, there is a lot of selfish ambition in the body of Christ and Paul says to rejoice that Jesus is being preached, but it is good to discern the difference! Blessings!

The Lord has knocked on my door for many days. I have tried to take up music instrument for worship purposes. But something was wrong. I couldn't explain it, but today I heard a voice saying not to play the instruments. Then I changed upon Jeremy Riddle , and this video came up. I understood that I have to be coming back to the heart of worship, and I'm sorry, LORD, for the thing I've made it [worship/praise in itself] when it's all about You; it's all about You, Jesus. P.S.: I WAS THOUGH ALLOWED AND COMMANDED TO TAKE UP SINGING AGAIN FOR GOD'S GLORY!

The Lord is coming… Amen. I love worship, but I’ve noticed how worship music has become so industrialized and commercialized these days, and it’s really sad to see. That’s why this interview touched me so deeply. I love this interview, and though I usually never write comments, this time I just couldn’t stay silent. Oh my God, his heart is absolutely filled with the Spirit. The first time I heard Jeremy was in a random video that popped up on KZbin. He was singing at a big outdoor conference, performing 'Glorify Your Name.' At that moment, I thought, 'Oh, he physically looks like Jesus.' Back then, I didn’t know him, but now, after hearing this interview, I realize it’s not just his physical appearance-his reflection comes from his heart. His heart truly resembles Jesus. I deeply connect with their thoughts, heart, and spirit. I’ve longed to find people in America like them. I bless them to continue their work in proclaiming the truth of God, of Jesus, and of the Church. Amen, amen, amen. Praise God Forever and ever 🙌🙌🙌🙌 Hallelujah

This interview was profound. I pray people can truly grasp what is being said and even listen to this interview multiple times. It was so interesting because throughout the interview I felt like Jeremy could have been King David sitting there. I felt Jeremy’s heart and soul pouring out l as I feel when I read David pouring out his heart in Psalms. VERY few people acknowledge this issue and the enemy is truly capitalizing on it. But please listen to what he is saying - particularly in the “Not everything that is popular is pure” chapter. I could say so much, but I will give a personal example. I used to have seizures and when I would start feeling the aura that would come before a seizure, I would play Christian music thinking it would help them go away. Well, if I played the song “It Is Well” by Kristine DiMarco, the seizure activity would stop. But if I played “Oceans” by Hillsong, the seizure activity would rapidly increase and I would immediately have to turn it off. I did this a couple times thinking it was a coincidence, but it always happened. The lyrics were beautiful so I had no idea that evil could actually be attached to “Christian” songs. Well since then, there has been a little glimpse into the evil operating in the Hillsong “church” and God has been leading me to the Truth behind the spiritual battle we are in. The enemy is infiltrating everything - and he specializes in the field of music. People of God, PLEASE live with discernment and be sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. God warns us that HIS PEOPLE perish for lack of knowledge. God protects His sheep, but he does not force His sheep to stay within the sheepfold. That is our choice. Stay close to Him and He truly WILL guide and protect you! God bless you all! 🙏🏼✨💫💖

The same thing happened to me around the time of the pandemic. God gave me spiritual eyes to see how music was changing the church. It all became about individualism and no longer community, and sadly, worship music did too. If worship doesn't touch the heavens then what are we doing? I pray for the church daily, that we would return to the heart of worship...with humility and the seeking of God's great mercy. I pray we find the value of boasting in our weaknesses so His strength can be made perfect, and not our own. The window of time we've been given is still open. Thank you for this interview. Hopefully eyes and ears will be open too.
