I recently got the rare 28 tooth version. Only a few cuckoo clocks use that music box, I think the 28 tooth one's the nicest sounding one out of them all.

The most common are 22 and 36. The 28 note version is indeed very rare.

This is a special mechanism that when you press the lever, the music note box is free to turn, so that the cuckoo lever can take over.
