For the love of fuck, watch the ENTIRE video to the end. I said I wasn’t going, but if you want to, then go and have fun and feel good about it as long as you know what you’re getting into. I even listed positives about this business. I do think some people are missing the point. It’s not like other bands that continue after a member dies, this is Pantera. The band was started and ran by the brothers, a family business. In this case, the chemistry was absolutely important. Chemistry in some bands is more important than skill. You can say “but Lynard Skynard” and “but AC/DC” all you want, but these all work or don’t work on a case by case basis. And if it’s “just a business and their job,” then why should anything be sacred?

I respect you and your opinion. For a young kid I think you do quite well for yourself. But just keep in mind two things. Zakk Wylde was the first person to say anything and no one says shit about that. He straight up said “This is not Pantera.” And the widows don’t eat when Phil and the illegals sell merch or tour. I’d definitely be willing to bet that’s why it’s billed that way. And I’m all for those queens eating. I’d definitely Rest In Peace if my wife could continue to thrive from my hard work after my passing. Not everything has to be black and white. Keep up the good work kid. I’m new to you, but I love your videos.

Paulo has been in Sepultura since their first album, so he counts as an original member. Andreas has played on every album except the first. Egor stayed in Sepultura for 4 more albums after Max quit, at that point Andreas and Paulo had put in 20 years of their blood and sweat into the band when Igor quit. So why should they have to give up the band because 2 members quit? At this point Derrick has been in the band longer than Max was, and they've made more records without Max then with Max, so to call them a cover band is ridiculous. Napalm Death has no original members and no one cares

I honestly thought I was never going to see Pantera when I first got into them. (When I was like 14) but when I heard that Phil and Rex were doing this, I was really excited. A chance I never thought was going to happen turned into a golden opportunity for me! Is it going to be the same without Vinnie or Dimebag? I'm sure it's not, but I'm probably not going to tell the difference since I've never seen them when they were both alive. Would it have been better to call it "A Tribute to Pantera"? Sure, but honestly I'll take what's coming to me.

I would want Eternal Suffering to make a reunion. I understand they were basically an underground brutal death metal and nobody really knows about them outside of people who listen to the genre but man did they make the best slam around the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Please read this people. I have something for you guys to think about regarding Pantera. My comments won’t reflect negatively to either side of the fence here. I get the sensitivity on both sides of the fence. Pantera fans are easily the most passionate fans in the world, well at least neck to neck with Slayer. But put two things into perspective here. One Zakk said “This is not Pantera.” Yet it is billed that way. So I get the confusion. Number two, which is actually the most important factor here. The widows don’t make money from Phil Anselmo And The Illegals tour and merchandise. But anything with Pantera goes on their dinner tables. I can’t speak for Vinnie’s old lady because I have no idea what her capacity is or what she’s allowed to do. But Rita isn’t just sitting on her ass collecting cash. She’s out working hard all year long. Dime’s guitars for example, we all know the scenario with Dean. She did the right thing by Dime getting out of that contract. She’s doing the right thing for everyone getting Grady involved and Dean Zelinsky. Dime Hardwear, Dime Bash, The Ride for Dime. I was privileged enough to see and meet Pantera. and I’m excited to see what this might do for metal. There are young kids (mine included) who hear this music and get passionate about it, even though they weren’t there. Seeing this shit live at this level could do some damn good shit! Pantera saved metal, and even though half of them are gone, the legacy of Pantera may need to save metal again. Let’s be honest guys, the core and the crybabies have pretty much taken over the metal scene. There are still plenty of good bands doing plenty of good shit, but a bunch of those guys won’t be around too much longer. Lamb of God for example. Randy straight up said he wouldn’t be doing this shit nine ten years down the road. Maybe this inspires something new and refreshing from younger crowds. I get the passion. But please don’t hate. Their best friends are paying tribute here. It might be billed as Pantera, but as Zakk himself said it “THIS IS NOT PANTERA.” Maybe take that for what it is and appreciate it.

No different than continuing Mayhem without Euronymous. Don't see an issue. If there's even one member who has contributed overwhelmingly to a band's discography present, it's the band.

I chose to go see Fear Factory/Machine Head instead of knotfest with Pantera headlining the next week and i don’t regret it. As much as i liked Burton’s contribution and presence in FF , Milo nails it live; but i have a similar feeling about Pantera and Fear Factory being that the bands only have 1 or 2 original members. In terms of the quality live FF haven’t lost a beat compared to Pantera having slowed the songs down a bit during their set.

Why stop at bands with members that passed away? Lets also "reunite" bands that had acrimoniously messy breakups. How 'bout The Smiths? We know Morricunt won't ever sit next to Johnny Marr and vice versa, so lets instead have Rick Astley in the vocalist spot. Or how 'bout we keep it Bri'sh and also reunite Oasis? Noel Gallagher can reform Oasis with Damon Albarn, since they're actually friends now, all we gotta do is tell him how much that'll piss Liam off and its a done deal!

Which is fine sometimes, but in this case it really was Darrell and Vinnie’s band. They started it together, ran the business, did everything together. Only thing that stopped Dime from joining Megadeth was Vinnie couldn’t come. With some bands its all about chemistry on stage and in the songwriting.

Funny you mentioned the Minutemen! Mike Watt & the Missingmen have been doing Minutemen sets for quite some time now. He recruited guitarist Tom Watson from Slovenly to do D. Boon's parts. Raul Morales and more recently, young Nick Aguilar have played drums. It's honestly really brilliantly done and Tom Watson is phenomenal in his role. Not quite the larger than life D. Boon, but he captures the spirit perfectly. Oh, and let's not forget Voivod! I never thought it would be possible to replace Piggy (RIP) but somehow they found the one guy in the world who could not only fill his shoes, but somehow channel the songwriting spirit. Daniel Moncrief has revitalized Voivod and their last two albums are two of the best they've ever done. Getting back to this Pantera act...I won't bother with them because I basically hated them in the 90s and think Phil Anselmo is a little puke.

Mitch kinda gave them the band and they were doing most of the work anyway by the time he left. In Napalm’s case, Shane and Barney were around for a while before Mitch left anyway so I think as long as those guys are there, it’s cool. Napalm’s always been progressive in a way.
