What a beautiful upcycle! That's a tidy job you did, cutting & tucking the fabric under the tag on the front. I have a bag that would benefit from such a makeover. I think it would be easier to bring those edges >neatly< together on the center of the back, rather than on the side, as there's more area on which to work on the back of the bag, than on either side, and I won't mind a "seam" on the back of the bag. I think when I do the bottom of the bag, I'll fold down the corners (short sides) of the fabric first, then the long side from the back second, and finish with the long side from the front; since that edge will be showing, it'll be showing on the back of the bag. Off to the remnants section at Joann's, to see what I can find!

Cute! I have no vision for patterns. 😂 But I've been a seamstress for a few years. That glue it can be a nightmare. Less is more for sure. It's really just more for holding the fabric in place until you sew it than actually gluing it on. The biggest problem is more that the glue soaks through and there's a permanent wet spot. I would have sewn the bottom hem of the fabric together before applying it to the purse by flipping it inside out, sew bottom, then flip back out normal. Put the purse in with the side open, lift 1 side panel, tiny spritz, adhere fabric. Flip, repeat with other side- Lay 1 side open, unsewn end down under the other that has an ironed, folded edge. Pin, sew the side. Sew all the way around the top seam, sew across the bottom so it doesn't slip around. Maybe throw a button right in the center and sew it on (tacking) or do an invisible stitch or two in the center with white or clear thread. Cut out the label rectangle, tuck it under label, lift label edges and use a little thread glue. Sew around the rectangle. We would be a good team! 🙂
