This is a REUPLOAD...but still give it a like. 😅 Also, if this gets taken down again, I'll just upload my full reaction online in the future. But let's hope this doesn't get blocked again. Also, next Sunday, planning on uploading another movie commentary video. Any guesses? 👀

You are 100% correct in saying that people loved this because it was original. It seems like every freaking movie out these days is not an original concept and it's getting kind of boring! The only movies out at my local theater this month are spirit (a remake), spiral (a sequel), cruella (a prequel/origin story), and a quiet place 2 (a sequel)!! Like??? Where's the originality?? Knives out felt like such a fresh breath! Also if you enjoyed knives out, i suggest you watch "ready or not" its the PERFECT double feature to watch along with this one!

It's so weird how kids think things "these days" are any different than "the old days." You weren't there, so maybe don't talk like you were? Our if you you were there... Nostalgia has you fooled.

Totally agree. This movie was both very fresh and, at the same time, works perfectly as a love letter to Agatha Christie style mystery novels. In fact, Knives Out feels a lot more Agatha Christie-ish in spirit, wits and charisma, than any recent adaptations of her novels. Recent Christie forrays have been too glam and sexy and neither comedic nor sweet as most AC novels and Knives Out. Btw: h I'm "actually"-ing you here. This sure is a fresh movie, I totally agree!

Sandra Oh would be soooooooo good. You KNOW she would kill it in a fun mystery like this after KE. Also my personal fave little detail with this movie is the change in paintings from the first to the second; it’s a subtle smile but it really hits hard for me.

Scene when Marta is with Ransom in his apartment. There’s a line of decorative glass jars with one clearly missing from the line. When you watch the person burn the medical office, it’s the same bottle they use to light it on fire 😏

So glad you had fun with this movie! ❤️ loved the video-you were so sharp with your guesses and observations, kudos! Thanks for reuploading, I didn’t catch the video in time to watch it last time and I was looking forward to it ☺️ For your questions: 1) I was too enthralled by the visuals and the storytelling to speculate much, so I had no clue it was Ransom until they brought him into the room at the end 😆 the only gut feeling I had throughout was that it wasn’t Marta. 2) Love the idea of Sandra Oh in the sequel ❤️ agreed, she’d be stellar 🤩

Great video, thanks for posting, I love this film. I had no idea how he was murdered. I realised it wasn't Marta , but that was all. The flashback of the night said that the dogs barked at three am. But it couldn't have been her because it's established that they don't bark at her. The dogs did bark at ransom , so thought he may have returned, but it placed him there after the murder and I didn't know what it meant until the end. It was nicely done.

great to see your movie commentary on this finally after so many blocks for copyright... I loved this movie too because it's so original with twists and turns, thoroughly deserved the Original Screenplay Oscar nomination last year! The cast was amazing too and should have been at least nominated for SAG ensemble... but yes, looking forward to the sequels that Netflix paid big money for! And agreed on the cast continuing to be great! Especially Kathryn Hahn, after Wandavision, I'm so looking forward to seeing what she does next!

I predicted the who (from when I watched the trailer way back), but not the how. The how was a like you said "a ride." It almost had me doubting myself. I love this movie. It definitely borrows from other movies and books but it is its own thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this was an entirely original idea. It was actually kind of a big deal because Rian Johnson, the director, made a point of not watching other contemporary mystery movies so it would have as little influence as possible, though he did have a lot of inspiration from Agatha Christie's works and other classic mysteries.

It is interesting. This film is so prominent and fresh in my mind. It's as if I just watched it. Yet, this reaction is a year old, and it's a re-upload. This film is definitely my thing. I have enjoyed mysteries, since I was young. I read all of the Holmes stories, when I was going through school, and I liked the various Agatha Christie stories, when the film versions appeared on TV. Of Course, "Murder She Wrote" was fun to watch. Going back, I continue to be surprised how good the were, in spite of being such a long running series. MSW often cheated in its storytelling. It was almost impossible to guess, because critical pieces were kept from the viewer until the end - unlike the more classic stories, that laid the clues out. If you were observant, you might be able to follow along, and guess the writer's intent, before the "Big Reveal". Knives out changes up the formula. About halfway in, you know exactly how he died. You even have a good idea of who the apparent "killer" is. The very natural assumption is that everything is accidental. It took a while to figure out that Captain America, "America's A-hull" was not ally that he seemed to be. Yet, the twist that the dosing was correct still took me by surprise. I really like that it starts out looking like "Clue" as mentioned by Blanc, yet by the halfway point, you know who did it. So, what is left to do, as a viewer? You have shown yourself to be pretty perceptive, and I have enjoyed your reaction.

Good thing you reupload this because I had not been able to see it before. I watched this movie by chance in the cinema, I didn't know anything about it but I remember that it was the movie that most caught my attention at that moment precisely because of the cast. And great because it was a very good surprise! I really enjoyed this movie and I figured Ransom was involved but it wasn't all predictable anyway. I'm hoping for a good sequel and I agree that it would be great to see Sandra Oh in this.

It's an original story indeed. But it's heavily influenced by Agatha Christie stories, the writer/director openly admits it. The plot isn't from his books, there's just similar elements like everyone having a motive, weird rich family, isolated mansion, eccentric detective who pretends to be goofy but is secretly brilliant (in Christie's books it's Hercule Poirot)

No, I definitely did not figure this out. Interesting that you said someone might cite an earlier source from 1972: there is no earlier source (the story was totally original), but there is a wonderful 1973 movie called The Last of Sheila that I keep wanting people to react to -- it's probably the only other murder mystery written directly for the screen that's as intricate and clever as this one, and cast members of Knives Out keep referencing it in interviews as the kind of thing they were trying to equal. Please watch it if you can!
@shredd5705
@shredd5705 2 жыл бұрын
"The Last of Sheila" is the favourite murder mystery movie of Jamie Lee Curtis and the director Rian Johnson. They mentioned it in some Knives Out promo interview, made me watch it and it was indeed good. But reaction channels seem to copy each other on what to watch, older movies are not hip with the kids

technically this is not a whodunit. it's not something you figure out, in a real whodunit, like agatha christie, all the information is given to you so you can try to solve the puzzle, but these movies, and basically what I write, are more like howdunits. you just enjoy the twists as they withhold information so you can enjoy the surprises. I do enjoy these, though
