This is a review and installation demo of the Rev-a-shelf wire bottom mount pull out trash can. FYI, this uses a 13 gallon trash bag.
I purchased the product demonstrated at retail price, and have no affiliation to the manufacturers nor received any incentive for the review.

You should explain how you made the contraction with the lid to open automatically

The original one was too basic with duct tape and wires to demonstrate. I think I’ll upgrade this and make a short companion video.

can you show how you made the lid opener
@deepspeak2513

I just connected some picture hanging wire to the underside of the sink and to the lid with duct tape. You need to get the length right, and then the lid will open when you pull the trash can all the way out. I’m making an upgrade on that- I’ll make a short video if I can find some time.

awesome video, thank you. But one question, this is a 35 quart trash can, it uses a 13 gallon trash bag? 13 gallon is 50 quart.
@deepspeak2513
@deepspeak2513 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. Unfortunately they make 8 gallon (32 quart) and then 13 gallon bags, and the 8 is too small. In any case, the extra capacity of the trash bag helps fold it over.

I need longer screws as well and more spacers, to longer up with the thick portion of the door. Where did you get yours? What size? And what's the rear basket even for?
@deepspeak2513
@deepspeak2513 2 жыл бұрын
I actually got them from Rev-a-shelf directly - they just sent me the screws and spacers for free when I called them. However, it took time and might not even work. So, I suggest getting them from Home Depot or Lowe’s. I believe these are 1/4” stainless steel bolts, and you’ll need to measure how long you need for your situation - probably 1” or 1.5”. You’ll also get the spacers there- these are 3/8” spacers for 1/4” bolt. These might work: www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-2-Count-0-755-x-3-8-in-Nylon-Standard-SAE-Flat-Washer/3012463?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-hdw-_-google-_-hardware-_-LIA_HDW_126_Fastening-_-3012463-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286981&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgJCjw_SN8wIVFyGtBh1a0AIDEAQYASABEgLwvvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds. Of course, take your current bolts and spacers and double check for fit. Good luck!

If we only attach the sliding thing to the baseboard does it still work and slide out?
@deepspeak2513
@deepspeak2513 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you’ll just have to open the cabinet door and pull the trash can out. That’s a better solution if you don’t want to drill into the doors
@sivaramudaya
@sivaramudaya 10 ай бұрын
How long did it last? Did it make the door weak by all the drilling?
@deepspeak2513
@deepspeak2513 10 ай бұрын
No it’s been 3 years or so and it’s used everyday without any issue. The wooden frame of the door is very sturdy and the drilling doesn’t affect it at all. Avoid drilling into the thinner section in the middle.

Hi, where did you buy the extra spacers?
@deepspeak2513
@deepspeak2513 Жыл бұрын
I hope you were able to find the spacers, since this is too late to help you. In case others are looking as well, I contacted Rev-a-shelf directly for the additional spacers kit. They sent it for free.

instead of duct tape, you might want to try hot glue
@deepspeak2513
@deepspeak2513 Жыл бұрын
Yes, hot glue is a great option if you can increase the surface area. For example, sticking a thin sheet of plywood to the bottom of your sink with hot glue, and screwing the end of your pull cable to the plywood (since you wouldn't want to drive a screw into your sink).
