Yes there were Anglicans who were loyal to king William just as there were Anglicans loyal to king James. The major problem for the Anglicans was their belief in the doctrine of (the Divine right of Kings. How could they reconcile William usurping the throne from James, was a major sticking point for them)At the start they were loyal to king James in 1685.But by 1689-1690 most had come to realise that his intention was to exclude Protestants from high position in government and to replace them with Roman Catholics;as seen with his policy in Ireland;just as he wanted Catholicism to be the religion of England. And so alarm bells had started to ring even in the Anglican church. Two good examples of Anglican ministers who fought for William were Rev George Walker the bishop of Donaghmore;who is famous for his role in the siege of Derry in 1689(Walker was killed at the battle of the Boyne in 1690);and also Rev George Story who became the bishop at Saint Nicholas;and who was the author of the Impartial history of the williamite wars in Ireland. But there where also Roman Catholics who supported William such as Adam loftus of Rathfernam estate in Dublin, and who is buried in Dublins Saint Patricks Cathedral.Of course Charles Leslie was a former Church of Ireland priest who supported king James, and after the glorious revolution of 1688 becomes a prominent Jacobite.Leslie was one of a small group of Protestants who actively supported the house of Stuart after the 1688 revolution.I cover many of these men in my playlist on the williamite wars,if your interested in watching them Robert👍

@@RobertK1993 He was invited over by the Gentry because they feared a return to Catholicism for the country by James. And because James fled when William came then they saw this as James abandoning the throne. Also what you have to remember is that it wasn’t just William who was crowed, but joint monarchy;both William and Mary ascended the throne. This was actually a new era in Britain.James was the last absolute monarch;but with the ascension of William and Mary we have the beginning of constitutional monarchy in Britain.

@@markporter-thechurchhistor6784 If James II won would it be better for Irish Roman Catholics I assume it be little better we still be under English/British rule whatever you wanna call it maybe Green Order of Irish Roman Catholics annoying Irish Protestants on 12th July after Boyne went way of James. Ulster Presbyterians go on to form United Irishmen with Wolfe Tone and win in 1798 with some Irish Roman Catholic support. 😂 . I think James have Protestants who invited William over pardon to avoid more conflict.
