The heart has the power to connect everyone of us. That is why when this man speaks, it moves us to a place where we understand a greater truth that was here before us, and will always be. We may not know how put articulate it, but fortunately, there are those like this man that will remind us what we ought to focus on. We are more alike than different. We can move forward with the understanding that there's a lot we need to learn, and that compassion is the way forward. I'm not a religious person, becauae religion so far has shown divisions, but I would definitely go to any church where this man is preaching. May he be blessed to continue to enlight us, to choose love.

I was delayed in the train station at Newark, NJ on my first visit to the city. I was heading back to San Francisco. While stuck there for 3 hours, I happened to become engaged in conversation with two women who had never met each other. One was a young African-American (perhaps of mixed "race") with her darling little son; the other was an African-American woman of about my age (60) who was born and raised in Newark. We had a really lovely, happy, and very candid conversation -- the kind women who are total strangers will often have, but men seldom seem to. It turned out that the older woman was finishing her training in theology and was going to become a Methodist minister We shared a lot of concerns about the tragic rise of racism and sexism in this country (she said that when she grew up in Newark, people of different races "mixed" quite comfortably, so we ARE going backwards...) Anyway, I had never heard of this man, but she mentioned "NAACP" and the Democratic convention, so Ive just found him. So glad to hear him...my "tradition" is Roman Catholic...but men of God come from all denominations, and all religions -- our job is to listen closely and know those who will spread the light we all need -- whether they are Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim or Christian. Important message!

Separation of Church and State meant the government does not impose religious law, doesn't fund religion through taxes, and doesn't prohibit citizens from choosing which religion they worship. It doesn't mean religious leaders can not speak at private events.

Rev. Barber's quote to remember: "Jesus said the Gospel is about good news to the poor, healing to the brokenhearted, welcoming all people. Christian nationalism attempts to sanctify oppression and not liberation. It attempts to sanctify lies and not truth. At best, it’s a form of theological malpractice. At worst, it’s a form of heresy." Of course, trumpoids will violently disagree. For them, Jesus is a white right-wing American. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 What power do they deny? The one he didnt mention? For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.” Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age?
