Danie, I've been a long-time subscriber, but this is probably my first time leaving a comment. Even though this piece is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum from my style, I have to commend you on the amount of work and love you poured into this piece. I don't think I've ever seen you commit so fully to one piece of furniture before. I think it's the most beautiful thing you've created and that clearly showed in her reaction when you revealed it. You did an amazing job and I am immensely in awe of your dedication to your vision for this piece. Wishing you the best, always ❤

Perfect example of Danie going above & beyond her own comfort & previous ability to create an outstanding final product! I wonder if she hadn't had such a Complicated project, would she have added a light behind the window? I do know that it is possible to constantly think "Ooh, I should have..." or "Would it look better, if I had..." & you need to stop & say "This is it, this is the best & anymore will be too much!" But that window is not at it's best without light behind it, it's too beautiful to not have a "I'm the main attraction" moment! (I could be wrong, I usually am)

It's so nice to see this folk art painting style that's very quaint and cute treated as something that can and should be taken well beyond small kitschy craft projects. It works extremely well on this style of dresser, which was always this very "un-precious" chunky log cabin style in a not-fancy wood. As long as such over simplified rustic furniture is as well-made as the chunkiness suggests, this redo matches the style. It's okay to embrace styles associated with cottage kitsch, as long as we put the intentionality and effort in to understand and replicate what makes them resonate.
