It definitely is the future and hope they offer a few options too customise things once you have a successful scan. And provide global localised printing
@OwenJackson6 ай бұрын
Totally agree they're the future and I look forward to further customisation too. I'm excited for the next development stage, featuring the 'MOCC' which is laceless moccasin design, and a flip flop called 'TABBI'. What features would you most like to see incorporated with further design development?
@anniwilson25346 ай бұрын
It’s fascinating where this will go, especially with the foot scanning feature picking up design variations for foot anomalies like you mentioned. It will be interesting to see if they can make a more durable firm ground sole in them, like the Primus Trail. Those and the Forest Tracker ESC are my go to Vivos.

Hey Anni thanks for watching and sharing the enthusiasm. The development from Gen 01 to 03 feels massive. The possibilities with the specificity and unique measurements is a game changer. Here’s to future developments. The future is at our feet 🦶🏻 🙌🏻

I certainly have tried the Fivefongers. The Vibram were probably my first specific barefoot shoe, Vibram KSO I believe the model was called. I still have them and they still get used. What is your favourite barefoot shoe brand and model? 🦶🏻

@@OwenJackson I own a bunch of Vivobarefoot shoes but I got my first Fivefingers like a month ago and I'm loving them! The "barefoot" experience with those is just unparalleled in my opinion. I'm having muscle laces now in places where I didn't even know I had a muscle there! 🤣

This might be the only way I get a pair of Vivo’s that fit my foot width. Do you know how much it would cost me to get into one of these or if there is even a way for me to find a Biome scanner here in the US?
@OwenJackson6 ай бұрын
Hi Nathan, it’s an exciting development, right? I believe the goal is for the Biome project to be released internationally, and I’m pretty sure the US will be high on the priority list due to the high interest there. I’ll make sure to keep everyone in the community updated as we learn more. The additional width has definitely helped with my foot shape. Have you tried any other brands that cater to wider feet in the meantime?

Newbie to barefoot shoes here. I thought you weren't supposed to heel strike in your walking gait while wearing barefoot shoes. Something about the shock being bad for your joints? Yet in all the B roll of you walking in this video, you're landing each step on your heel. Am I missing something? Can you do a video on that? I'd love to learn more!
@OwenJackson6 ай бұрын
Hey Adrian, thanks for the question. When walking, heel striking is perfectly natural because it aligns with our natural gait cycle at lower speeds. As we transition to barefoot running, promoting a midfoot or forefoot strike helps utilise the natural shock absorption mechanisms of the leg, such as the arch, calf, and soleus muscles, which act as a natural suspension system. People can avoid the consequences of heel strike while jogging due to cushioned shoes that mitigate the impact forces. Therefore, heel striking is acceptable and efficient at lower speeds, but it becomes less effective and potentially problematic as speed increases. hope that helps and let me know if i can help any further. are you a barefoot fan? 🦶

On the VivoBiome website I can see the MONO, which are quite different from what you've shown, or the HYBRID WING, which are not completely bespoken though. Does the MONO look like your pairs in the video, or is it another model?
@OwenJackson6 ай бұрын
Hey Luca, thanks for watching. I don't currently have hands-on experience with the Hybrid Wing or the MONO designs, but I would love to try them in the future. To my knowledge, the Hybrid Wing is an evolution of the Gen 03 featured in the video. With this model, you have the ability to input your preferred length and width options. The foot scan will provide an outline, which you can then tailor to your preference. Some prefer tighter fit, some prefer looser etc. From what I've seen of the MONO designs (Mocc and Tabbi), I believe further customisation is available as they have more control points to tailor the fit even more precisely. Please let me know if you have any further questions or if there's anything else I can help with. What features are you most interested in when it comes to these designs?
@lucanicoletti6 ай бұрын
@@OwenJackson To be honest I was interested in getting into the beta tester programme, not buying them myself given the limited colours, styles, and the incredible price. Not to say that I'd need to travel to London for the scan. Also, giving the low quality of recent releases from Vivo, I lost my confidence in their product's quality. Not willing to spend £300 on a single pair of shoes which I don't like (colours for the Hybrid Wing, design for the Mocc).

I read that they aren't tailor made to your foot scan but rather there are 3 different foot shapes per size. With that it isn't really necessary for them to be made to order either. Very dissapointing especially considering the extremely high price of £260. If they were printed to the shape of your foot it would be justifiable but they aren't.
@OwenJackson6 ай бұрын
Hey Stikx, thank you for watching and being part of the conversation. I appreciate your feedback and understand that I could have done a better job of separating the technology while reviewing the current generation. By choosing a wider shoe, I was able to better match my requirements, and I'm confident that future iterations will offer greater variability and control, with more control points to meet the users requirements and preferences. Meaning your anatomy will be accounted for, with tailored control points dependant on how you wish your shoe to fit [some prefer a tighter fit, some looser]. I don't want to make excuses, and do recognise the cost is still prohibitive for many. However, this is a young and developing project, and I'm very excited to see where it leads. I believe the development of the MOCC will address some of your concerns. Here's to revolutionary development and forward-thinking manufacturing What improvements would you like to see in future iterations?

You are correct from my understanding, they're aren't tailor made for you. it's more measure your feet and give you the version they have that fit you best

lol @ " no overcomplicated production line" with an SLS printer making the soles. SLS is way more complicated than traditional production lines and requires constant human intervention and produces more waste. FDM or gtfo.

@@OwenJackson Nice reply. I think the strength of 3D printing in improving shoes is to massively increase the longevity of a pair of shoes by allowing the outsole to be replaced by the user with a 3D printer or 3D printing service. The outsole will need to be a seperate component and the shoe is just a heavy duty sock with attachment points. What vivo has done with the biome is very cool, but doesn't address any of the drawbacks of normal shoe production. The environmental impact, lead time, durability, and cost of the shoe will all be worse than a shoe made with traditional methods. they have sacrificed all of those to deliver a "personalised" shoe, but that personalisation is still a once off process and if it doesn't come out exactly right then the user can't change it wihout buying a new pair of shoes, and when they wear out the cost is again higher than a "normal" shoe instead of being lower as it would be if 3D printing was properly leveraged.
@OwenJackson5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your thoughtful reply. You make some excellent points about the potential of 3D printing to extend the lifespan of shoes by enabling users to replace outsoles. That idea of having a durable sock-like base with attachable outsoles is really intriguing and could indeed address many of the issues with traditional shoe production. It's a complex balance between innovation and practicality. Hopefully, as 3D printing technology evolves, we'll see more sustainable and cost-effective solutions in the footwear industry. Thanks for sharing your insights.
