Arthur Weasley was always one of my favorite characters and Mark Williams plays him so amazingly well. As a father myself, it’s great to see such a strong, kind father-figure portrayed. I don’t know if Rowling meant for this, but the contrast of him vs Lucius all throughout the books is a wonderful ongoing theme.

As a mother, Molly is one of mine. She’s a fierce protector and her boggart was seeing her family members dying because that’s her worst fear. I relate to her so much.

It’s criminal how much the Weasleys were cut down in the movies. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley treat Harry like a son and the twins show a lot of brotherly love towards him. It’s especially disappointing in future books.

They basically kill Charlie, they turn Ron from a loyal-to-the-hilt warrior into an idiot who likes to eat, and don't even get me started on what they did to Ginny.

I like the part of conversation where Harry and Weasley brothers were discussing Dobby's possible masters. They thought about Malfoys, but quickly abandoned the topic and didn't come back to it until the very end. So the author gave us the answer right there, but made us completely forget about it. It reminds me how Harry suspected Draco in the 6th book, but others didn't believe him. And readers again could think that the answer can't be given so easily.

You missed a change. Mr. Dursley doesn’t install the bars like in the movie, he pays a guy to do it. He also installs a cat flap to give Harry food.

The entire beginning of Goblet of Fire being cut from the movies always bothered me. It was another moment of Harry and the Weasleys bonding and explains how they get the the Wizard Games.

I never liked how they cut Winky out of the movies. I also was never on board with how they don't show Dobby wearing regular clothes. (Well, regular if you consider wearing multiple layers of mismatched socks and hats. )

Three words for you: theater time requirement. Movie theaters have set a pseudo limit on how long a movie can be played in a theater. That's why movies are largely two hours *_MAX_* in terms of play length, and movies like the Lord of the Rings series are the *_EXCEPTION_* that enforce the limit. Why are two hours the most a theater will allow outside of very few exceptions? Well, it's turnaround time. Shorter movies mean more throughput, which means more money.

Hey, that's funny. I just found a continuity error in the books. I love the short scene in the movie with the clock in the Burrow indication all the Weasley family member's whereabouts and the hands of Fred, George and Ron going from "missing" to "at home". Now I wanted to reread the passage in the book to compare it to the depiction in the movie. Found out that in my book the clock is described as having "...only one hand and no numbers at all. Written around the edge were thinks like 'Time to make tea', 'Time to feed the chickens' and 'You're late' ". That completely contradicts the description in the 6th book where "...it had nine hands, each inscribed with the name of a family member ...Every single one of its nine hands was now pointing at 'mortal peril.' "

Great spot! I was kinda confused by this as well. Makes sense it’s just a continuity error. JK Rowling had a bunch of them 😂

Maybe Molly got a new clock at some point when she realised the danger of Voldy being back or there is more than one clock.

They are two different clocks. It says so in the book
@selwynevonbeereskow8053

@@finalfantasyfan222 Where does it say so? I could only find the description of the clock with the one hand in "The Burrow" chapter of the Chamber of Secrets and then the description of the clock with the nine hands in "An Excess of Phlegm" in the Half-Blood Prince. And there it says: "Harry recognised it at once." But I couldn't find any mentioning of the clock or another one of this kind in any other chapter of all the books in between. And it seems to be a quite unique and remarkable clock as even Molly Weasley sais "...but I don't know anyone else who's got a clock like this..."

Something left out of the movie was the twins learning Muggle tricks like lock picking, it feeds to the notion that Weasleys are more inclined to look favorably on muggles than the norm

I think the way the twins break Harry out in the movie tells us that the director wanted to highlight their sense of humor and move things along more quickly than the events in the book play out. Up until before this part in the film, in the movies, we’d known the twins to be silly, so it would have been interesting to see them exhibit that they have other personality traits. Of course, The Deathly Hallows hadn’t yet been written and released so the director wouldn’t have considered making the most out of the twins’ scenes. The dialogue from Arthur Weasley and the retort from Molly would have been great additions to the film, as well, given we would have been given a sense of legitimate danger in Arthur’s work for the Ministry and we would have assumed this Mundungus guy was a bad man and may even be connected to Voldemort. Molly’s response would also have given us more insight into Arthur as a character given he “made the laws” and therefore used a loophole. We might infer from that that he is the source of the twin’s cleverness. Molly’s response would also have given us more insight into Arthur as a character given he “made the laws” and therefore used a loophole. We might infer from that that he is the source of the twin’s cleverness. It would have been nice to see Ron’s room in the film, too, but the exchange between Harry and him in the film would have perfectly sufficed for a stand-in for the exchange in the book had Ron smirked or smiled after hearing Harry respond with “it’s brilliant” to Ron’s remark that “it’s not much, but it’s home.” Little things like that really do help to build relationships between characters.

Great vid. However, Dumbledore himself (in the movies) says the prophecy states the boy was born at the end of July. So, unfortunately, your theory about the birthday change is incorrect. They just removed what they deamed unnecessary and rushed through the timeframe.

Great point! However, I still see it as an inconsistency in the films. For example, in the first film we see Hagrid and Harry shopping and then it immediately cuts to them walking through King's Cross (with Harry in the same outfit). Not only is this different, since in the book Vernon is the one who drops Harry off, but it suggests that they went straight from shopping to him boarding the train. Or perhaps the next day boarding. Yessss, technically they could have just skipped over a month, but if that's the case then it was very poorly executed from a film perspective. Have him wear a different shirt at least, or have a one liner that displays a passage of time, yaknow? All-in-all, the movies seem to always skip over this month with no explanation of the time in between. Also (and pardon my rambling), because the movies were directed by a multitude of directors, it is a possibility that there was no clear vision. The director who included the accurate prophecy could have completely ignored the previous director's decision to change Harry's birthday. So that's a plausible theory as well! Thoughts?

I haven’t read the books. My mom one day showed up with audio cassette books for Harry Potter that I listened to. But I remember when the movies where coming out I was pointing out the mistakes of the movies from the books. Tho the movies are good on their own. Hopefully the Harry Potter TV show will be more faithful to the books

It would’ve been an awful decision to cut the ghoul if they new how important it would become, but there was no way of knowing so it’s understandable. Still would’ve been nice to see a ghoul in pajamas later down the movie series

Dear Ghibi, I know that I am bringing this up way early, but I wanted to ask what your thoughts are in regard to JK Rowling's use of Bible passages in The Deathly Hallows? Are you familiar with their contexts and how they were originally used?

While I comprehend what you mean when you say "[Ron's] family's wealth", I have to say that it conveys the opposite of what (I assume) you intended. Poverty is rarely described as "wealth", and to say someone is "embarrassed by their family's wealth", would lead any intelligent person to assume the subject is rich. It's a very minor qualm, but these things bug me when someone has submitted a work of media to an audience of many thousands. There are many out there that will competently edit your scripts for little or no cost, and grammatical / syntactical precision will vastly increase your appreciation from certain types of viewers...
