REVEALING MY ANCESTRY DNA RESULTS! 🇭🇹🇧🇸 How to take the test and what to expect.

I took an ancestry test at the beginning of the year, and the results are finally in! Watch me take the test, reveal the results, and give pointers about the whole experience.
I forgot to mention how long I had to wait before I got my Ancestry DNA results. It took a total of seven weeks before I had the results. I checked everyday (several times a day), and didn't know the results were available until I got a message from a 4th cousin😁. The wait is maddening, but worth it.
The Ancestry DNA kit cost around $100.00, but I would recommend waiting until it goes on sale (as they often do several times throughout the year).

That's so cool. That's a large percentage of Cameroon. Some of my family members were hesitant about sending in their DNA too lol. Thanks for sharing. I love watching these videos. France has also German ethnic groups in the northern area. They speak Alsacian, Lothringen, Jenisch(german dialect) and Flemish (dutch dialect).

I just found out that I have 15% Southeast Asia (the phillipness) in my blood my grandfather on my dad’s side of the family is half Filipino and white and my grandmother is black I was surprised because it finally made sense where my features and siblings features come from me and my siblings get called blasian because of it and it just makes sense and my grandfather was born in 1907 😭🤣 ancestry and genes are amazing lbvs

@@abdulrasakejiwumi2135 Unfortunately I wasn't matched with any relatives directly from African countries or with African last names. I was only matched mostly with other Afro-Haitians. I'm guessing that's because my ancestors' migration to Haiti happened a long time ago

The "Southern Bantu" also encompasses Mozambique, which is much more likely to be the place of origin of that percentage than South Africa. A smaller portion of enslaved people were taken from Mozambique and Madagascar (Southeast Africa) in comparison to the numbers from West and Central Africa, while Southern Africa was not a place of origin for enslaved people taken to the Americas. Nice video. I am Haitian, too and have been watching lots of DNA video. I would like to know more ahout the ancestors, but I am very hesitant. I have the same feeling as you about France forbidding the DNA test in their country. When I heard about that, I was wondering why such an important thing ( to those who wants to know their origin) would be forbidden.

Thank you for sharing your results :) I found it interesting you saying about it being illegal to DNA test in France. I was expecting some French in mine and my mum's ancestry results, my mum is half Mauritian Creole and Mauritius was also a French colony in the past. It looks like our French got assigned as part of the England and NW Europe instead as my mum is half English and the NW European DNA can be difficult to tell apart. On 23andme she has 12.6% of their French & German, 0% French on AncestryDNA.

Hello, Jack🙂 Thanks for the comment. I've been hearing similar stories from persons who took both tests. But I think as time goes by the technology will improve and the results will be a little more spot-on. However, for now, it seems as though 23andme might have more detailed results (though I have not taken their test, my assumption is based on the results of of others who have taken both tests).

If your great great grandfather is Spanish, you should have more than 5% European. I added the 1% Germanic Europe because Spanish people are European and Europeans just like Subsaharan Africans are mixed with different European tribes. So, your Spanish great great grandfather must have had some German DNA.

Mathematically speaking, one's great great grandfather lived 4 generations back. So she should have 6.25% European ancestry. 5% is very close though.

Hello, Carolyn. Besides the braids, I am sporting my natural, non-chemically relaxed hair (flat ironed). With that being said, it is unfortunate that your only takeaway from my content was that my hair is not “natural”. I understand that the business of policing black women’s hair (of which you are an agent) is commonplace, and has been for centuries. But, even if I was rocking a wig or a weave, it would not make me or any other black woman who choose to wear extensions, less African, or less queenly. Black women of African descent are not bound to a single esthetic. I hope I provided clarification. 🙂
