I started reconditioning mowers about three years ago, part time. Looking forward to full time retirement income. I have purchased 153 mowers, have sold about 75, average around 25 a year. All i have time to do. It is kind of addictive, not sure why, but have a lot of fun and get much satisfaction out of helping folks and bring good machines back to the track, if you will. Ive got a mint low hour craftsman dlt 3000 with the honda twin! Very quiet and smooth motor. Got it with a blown connecting rod, then got another of the same mower with the exact issue. Finally sourced a good low hour engine and installed, plug and play pretty much. I think the issue with running low on oil on these is that people are screwing down the dip stick to check levels, and the operating range is very small on the dip stick, if you screw the dip stick in it will show full oil but in reality is low and boom goes the rod bearing. Crazy they did not put a low oil shutoff on these. i check before every mow.

I've been looking forward to a video like this since I've seen them all in the background on your previous videos. It doesn't take long before they start multiplying quickly! Many of them look like pretty easy turnarounds which will be great for you to crank out in the off season and have a great lineup of mowers ready for Spring.

Remember, with all gas powered small engine being no longer made, the gas push, and drive mowers, will become hot commodities, almost going to be able to name your own price in the coming months, and years, so remember that don't under sell your equipment.

Hey Alex, just wanted to drop you a line: Your channel has helped me try out mower repair for myself. I picked up a 2007 Craftsman DYS4500, 24hp, 46" for $150. Smoked like crazy, and grinding in the pulleys. Watching your videos, I learned how to replace both head gaskets, replace the pulley, two oil changes (I screwed up rebuilding the carb and flooded the first oil change), valve cover gaskets, and valve adjustments. Only thing I have left to tackle is the seat switch, but thanks for your hard work and these videos. You give people like us confidence in our own work!

At 17:35 on that Sears, is that a hydraulic 3 point hitch? Seems like a cool machine, you should get some more older John Deere’s with kawasakis and some yanmars😊

Yea it’s a massive lawn tractor. Has a hydro rear lift and hydro lift for the mowing deck as well. I wish I had the deck, but this one will be a nice machine for around the property. I would love to get my hands on some onans, or Diesel engines.

Alex, I can see you really have a lot of experience with lawn tractors, so maybe you can put me in the right direction for solving a slight problem I’ve had with a White Outdoor/MTD LT542H. Something is making the Tecumseh 20HP V-twin with twin carb engine slow to start. Battery fully charged and valve lashes corrected long ago. I’ve ultrasonic cleaned the Vector carb bowls and integral parts plus replaced the 4 O-rings (The two at the bottom of the emulsion tubes were deformed and preventing the tubes from moving up and down). Confirmed fuel flows to carbs and solenoids function correctly. I’m pretty convinced it’s a fuel issue because once it fires it runs just fine. Will start immediately with a volatile sprayed into the intakes. I’ve run the tank dry and used fresh fuel with no change. I’m not familiar with how fast fuel should flow from the pump so the only thing I can think is the pump is just not making full pressure. Is that a possibility or is there something else of which I’m not aware going on?

Hmmm it could be a few different things but maybe check the pulse line going to your fuel pump for cracks. Also check gaskets for your carb and intake connections for air leaks.

You definitely have a great collection! It’s fun to give these machines a 2nd life of use; I do the same thing as you, just on a much smaller scale. Come spring time, you should have enough mowers ready for sale to make some good pocket cash:-)

Keep stacking them up while you can and work thru them during winter Parts are really nice to have and I need all the top stuff for a v 7000 kohler that got fire and tank hurt also Only 37 hours
