Ohhh my goodness sweet Kristen… I find we are most hard on ourselves! As I’ve said before, you’re so authentic- that’s what draws us to you! Your mums aren’t dead. Pinch off the brown and give them a little water every other day or so; they will continue to bud and bloom. Don’t throw them out at the end of the season. Plant them and cut them down to ground level… they will come back next fall. Your home is beautiful!

When we moved to another state over 9 years ago and bought this new to us/older fixer upper home, watching my 2 boys grow up faster than I thought possible... I'm still struggling to find the positives each day, but I do... Here are my go to sayings... "progress over perfection" and "don't measure yourself with someone else's ruler". Oh Kristen please don't beat yourself up because things don't go right or aren't done perfectly. The truth is everytime I have watched videos of those perfect homes I have ended up feeling discontent and disheartened that my home is nothing like that. I just discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I cannot tell you how much i have been blessed by it. The Lord has shown me through your videos that I don't have to have everything 'perfect' to have a home that brings joy and contentment. I often would start a project, something would go wrong and I'd feel frustrated with myself that i had somehow failed once again. I'm a mum of 7 so i don't have a lot of free time to get the things done that I would like to do either. Your honesty is so refreshing and encouraging. Honestly, you are doing great! Mums are pretty, but I've sent many of them to an early grave! This year, I heard you should repot them in rich potting soil, water daily, and pick off dead blooms. Any shade of lighter blue on the ceiling of your porches keeps evil spirits from entering in your home! The porch took a HUGE amount of work: painting the whole house, restaining the swing, the door, and more. It was so much more than just putting up fall decor. It came out beautifully! I just learned this year, that watering mums from the bottom makes ALL the difference! Every year, my mums would die before they ever bloomed. But this year, they are doing so much better!! And girl…I feel ya. I usually feel like “if it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all”. But in the end, your house and your porch look beautiful.
