And also another bit of advice. Try to minimize the cutting down of Ceylon cinnamon because it is a very valuable export crop much sought after by the whole world. Our country fell under colonial rule because of cinnamon & spices. The Portuguese, the Dutch. & the British came after those.

Sri La Sri Lankans who live abroad can feel what they are missing when they snell and taste the substitute that is sold as cinnamon in Americas and Europe. The dried bark is so hard, thick, and dark brown (like dark chocolate) in color and very hard , difficult to chew if you want to. That substitute actually is NOT cinnamon but is called cassia that grows in South America and some other countries. The cinnamon trees that you are cutting are a rare species that grows in Sri Lanka and a few other countries . If you buy a dry cinnamon stick in US you will find that it is dark brown and has a rolled one hard thick layer. If you buy a Ceylon cinnamon stick in Sri Lanka you will find that it is a lighter in color like a mix of light orange, brown and tan and it has many thin layers of flaky bark rolled into one easily breakable and chewable. It had a more pleasant fragrance and very sweet when chewed unlike cassia bark. Just a kind request when you cut precious cinnamon shrubs- please save the mature branches and dry and use the bark for your cooking without just throwing them away. Sri Lankan curries don’t taste or smell sweet with cassia.

In Sri Lanka, there are certain rules and regulations regarding putting up a building.such as drawing up a building plan and getting approval from the local authority . I think for your locality it is the Ahangama Pradeshiya Sabha. I am surprised that no one among the lacal people you associate with has told you about the regulations that are applicable for constructing any type of building. Of course there are delays when the plan is submitted for approval. If you build without approval it is called an unauthorized structure and there may be unpleasant and bad consequences. Even now it is not too late to get a proper plan drawn up by a qualified person and and get. approval from the local authority, because it will save you a lot of undesirable and unpleasant cosequences lateron. I am giving this advice because I really would like to see you succeed in your project. With love from Vishaka

Breathtaking views up there Lucie and Lahiru! I think the place will look very earthly and minimalistic once the little dwelling comes up. I could imagine a tent outside for a visitor to enjoy the holiday. They could stare at the stars at night, and wake up to the views of the blue lake beyond. Hoping to see all of it coming out well, in the next couple of weeks.

To be honest I'm so sad you cut these beautiful trees from your gorgeous tropical jungle. However, building a tiny house is really an original and nice idea, also a good way for your Airbnb. Anyway, the view will always be absolutely magnificent 🤩 Good luck with this other challenging work 🍀❤️🍀

Not just any trees. The most valuable cash crop Ceylon cinnamon Probably painstakingly planted by previous owners to make a few Rupees.? Just chew and swallow the stem of a Ceylon cinnamon leaf. You will taste the fresh spicy sweetness. That aroma and taste is not found in the substitute CASSIA which really is not cinnamon that is sold in Europe and the Americas as cinnamon. So to build your dream cottage if you have to cut the cinnamon shrubs pile up the branches without the twigs and leaves and tap them while raw to loosen the bark, then cut a vertical line from top to bottom and perl the bark to a desired length snd dry. It is tome consuming but anybody can do it. These are thin flimsy and somewhat brittle compared to the cassis barks that are hard and not as flavourful as the Ceylon cinnamon.. if you font have time to do this give it free to anybody who will be happy to have those raw branches. If used for fire wood to cook outside after removing the bark even the smoke smells aromatic. It was so heartwarming to see you recycling renovating used furniture and buying a used refrigerator for your home. In your land that has not bren the case Waste not want not.

Hi lucie Just a suggestion I have cinnamon stick being used bunched up together or tied up in a row like the bamboo sticks to create walls, doors etc you can try that for your tiny home, I think you need to dry up the young cinnamon sticks first though, it will look fab and added bonus your tiny home will smell sweet like cinnamon 😊

Good idea for income but not a fan of cutting down cinnamon or trees. Ceylon was known for spices, called the pearl of the Indian Ocean. Ceylon cinnamon is very expensive so it breaks our hearts. Anyway good luck but be careful of whom you get up there. Dont trust too much check their credentials.
@whereslucie8 ай бұрын
Yes we are very aware of that, and like I mention a few times throughout the video, we have soooo much cinnamon on our land, we have only cut a small plot of it, and also stress that we will be planting so many more varieties of trees, plants and flowers, to bring in more versatility to our land, not just crowded cinnamon plants! 😊🌿
@nandaseeligunasekera82768 ай бұрын
Don't cut cinnamon .It is very expnsive , demand plant.All over the world like Srilankan cinnamon .You can plant vegetable other part of the land.You can sell cinnamon branches to cinnamon traders .Cinnamon is a type of tree that branches grows repeatedly and lasts for a long time without any expenses .Therefore it is a good source of income .
