About 3 yrs ago I found out by accident that alfalfa pellets work in the garden. I sold off my livestock and had a bag of pellets left over and used it as mulch for my pepper plants. Those jalapeños were 7 ft tall by the end of the season and produced like crazy. I hadn't even heard of using it.

Triacontanol helps plants grow bushier(more side stems) and stay lower. Alfalfa and good amount of potassium makes for foot tall carpets of tomato. More tomatoes then leaves. Whereas growth hormones in seaweed promote stem elongation and top growth. Things will stretch straight up from main stem.

I put my garlic 🧄 in the ground on the weekend. I grow three types: Sweet German (porcelain); Chesnok Red (True Purple Stripe); and Spanish Roja (Rocambole). I dug the bed, worked in some 19-19-19, spaced the cloves six inches apart in all directions and covered the bed with a layer of my home made compost. Up here we want the garlic to set down roots but not to come up until spring.
@tannenbaumgirl31002 жыл бұрын
You also want some water on there and work them in to not attract animals, like rabbits, mice and rats, or deer....they all like Alfalfa. I use them on all of my 25 raised beds and vary application depending on how much Nitrogen each crop needs. I started using it about 4 years ago, and yes, I've noticed an increase of critters, so something to watch out for and take necessary action, as needed.

@@TMesser74 Mix 1 cup Cornmeal, 1 cup Baking Soda, 1/2 cup Sugar, and water, just enough so you can roll ping pong size balls, and place them around the areas where mice etc. activity is noticed...this is for outdoors use, the ingredients will not harm any other outdoor animal except mice, rats, etc...they cannot digest Baking Soda, and it's safe for cats and dogs. Yaap, place these balls around your coop, shed, machine storage areas, etc. I have them around my garden shed, wood rack, raised beds, and compost bins. My raised beds are 22 inches high, so they love digging tunnels inside and eating my veggies bottom up. This has helped controlling them in the midst of a "smorgas board." Good luck.

I also use alfalfa pellets in three different ways…first I use the dry pellets the same as you do for a slow release method…. Second I use it as a mush by putting about 4cups pellets in a five gallon bucket then fill with water letting the pellets expand and break apart…I use that to mix in the soil for more accessible nutrients….Third I use it for tea as a ready soluble fertilizer for my plants and seedlings…I take a cup full of pellets and add it to a gallon jug filled with water…I let it sit for a few days before use….I have a playlist called Using Alfalfa Pellets on my KZbin channel where I detail the different uses of alfalfa pellets in the garden 🥰

And now on the serious side, my garden is over for the year here in zone 6b we had had hard frost last Monday and Tuesday nights. This video is pure gold from start to finish. I started using alfalfa pellets with a heavy hand this year and had my most successful garden yet. I apply it at about the same rate you show. Since my season is too short for cover crops, I use the pellets as a pre-plant to feed the microbial network in the soil over the winter so it will be ready to accept the spring growth nutrients. Using 8-5-5 at planting and drip feeding Agrothrive plus some other additives as the plants cycle through their lives. Can't seem to locate any Dawgs bouquets, however.

After chemical-burning a $150 tree I gave up on fertilizer-injectors. I EC test in 100 gallon batches with an irrigation pump now, usually 400-600 TDS for 10-14 inch-high garden of high-organic-soil. Next time you do the Tarp near July please monitor for a max temperature. In Europe the anaerobic decomposition is used to produce gases to power engine-generators, so be cautious. I'd try it but IDK what I'd do with the tarp afterward as I don't have the space for the soil-solarizing practice, & that University deleted/upgraded their site so I have to re-find the promotion page claiming the practice can reach temperatures of 180f [I claim it can only reach 164f max].
