I was excited to see the oppening of the staircase. Stairways can hold a lot of spirtual energy. Going up to bed, going down for your meals. Going up the stairs to see the mother superior. Maybe helping to hide the priest behind the wall in a secret place. You are alone with your thougths as you go up or down. Looking forward to seeing the stairs cleaned and polished. The staircase is beautiful! We can see more beams in the ceiling--do you plan to sandblast them and plaster like the ones in the other rooms? That whole area will be stunning when you are done with it!

Definitely sand blasting someone decided to white wash the underside of the staircase and the rest of the ceiling is covered in paint so it needs doing

Note of caution you should pull the florescent tubes rather than letting them drop and smash they contain mercury and the thin glass is easy to get cut on. Amazing progress they got way more done than you expected. That area looks so interesting I can't wait to see it all done up...

I'm glad you explained that in the end. I was so confused why someone would build concrete rooms underneath the stairs just for storage space. And the wall above the stairs didn't make sense to me. It just blocked out the window and all the natural light that it brings in. The stairs are already looking a LOT better!
