Great interview, I was impressed on history. Gangs are created because society rejects them. 1970 I was sent home for speaking Spanish. Today I have friends from South America Japanese, Korean and Chinese we all speak Spanish. I worked in Jeffersonvill Indiana, Shepardvill Kentucky which the kkk marches down the street in German parades. Today the confederate flags are coming down. I was told by police in the south you are a Blackman. Pulled over 24/7 almost killed by police. Then , we ask why gangs. Today. I refuse to work in south. Downey California

A “broken home” is not the problem and doesn’t put into proper perspective the link between absentee fathers and gang affiliation...a FATHERLESS home is the actual problem, not necessarily a “ broken home”...id say 90% of kids getting caught up in the streets don’t have a father that keeps them in check until they graduate high school. There are some exceptions being that there are some that turn to the streets even though they have both parents in their life, but generally speaking a strong male figure in the home that a kid has to report to on a daily basis could make all the difference in the world in the urban community....

just because a father is there Physically doesn't mean he will be there Mentally/Emotionally though. so I think it's much more than just having a Father in the home.
@HanSoloBolo4 жыл бұрын
NATURAL LAW Definitely there could be many factors...being a parent is an art form and being emotionally and mentally available plays a huge part. There is however a link between absent fathers and a higher risk of getting caught up in the streets as well as the system. It ultimately depends on how the household is ran (weather it be one or two parents) as well as a child’s response to the outside world and its influences.
@naturallaw17334 жыл бұрын

You’ve had great interviews over the years.Only 4 I didn’t like were of 3 fake gangs like “Taliban Mob Gang”,”Filthy Crips”,”Mafia Hustler Crips”,”Grace Ave Piru”.Those four interviews were certainly not gang members and those “gangs” have zero history or rep between them all.Please just stick with real gangs in SC,Watts,Compton,etc...Thanks

So you are the gate keeper on what is real and fake gangs. OG Keith Peddler from Cabbage Patch Piru stated Grace as a gang in Carson...we have the first ever interview with Grace Piru. It’s a gang, but gangs come in all different forms, just like the Little Rascals from the 1950s was a gang. Broaden your mind, and stop thinking so narrowly, you are definitely not the gatekeeper from what is and is not a gang.
@richlopez58964 жыл бұрын
@@streetgangs Taliban Mob is NOT a gang and Filthy Crips are NOT an active gang.It is better to stick with interviewing real gangs with an actual history.Could've interviewed Insanes in Long Beach since that is a real and active gang.People want to hear from the heavy hitting gangs that can talk about old school 80's and 90's
@streetgangs4 жыл бұрын
Rich Lopez unfortunately just because something doesn’t fit within your box of what a gang is, doesn’t mean it’s not a gang. Even that “Taliban” group is a gang, co-signed by the Harbor City Crips. Yes, go look at their music videos. I understand your position, because in 1970, the Black gangs of the 1960s were looking at the 15 year old Crips saying the same thing you are saying.
@richlopez58964 жыл бұрын
@@streetgangs "Taliban Mobb" is not a gang at all.Name their cliques.They have none.They don't even have 5 members.Name their boundaries.they have no turf and claim no streets.Name one gang that crosses them out as an enemy.NO gang in the region has them as an enemy.Drive every street in Lawndale and you won't see a single hit up by them.Not one story of them doing any dirt to anybody.they ONLY exist on some interview with you.Who do they ride with in county or in the pen?You can go all around Lawndale and nobody will tell you they've ever heard of any such gang.go talk to the Lawndale PD and ask.That was just a "gang" him and his brother made up to make videos.My sister and I can do the same thing right now. I'm not comparing them to younger generations like you are claiming.there are plenty of funny style youngsters in real L.A gangs.Just pointing out that a youngster in a real gang like R60's is in a real gang."Taliban Mobb" is just a guy and his brother.

40k gang members in the City of LA alone? I doubt it.
@dickmccarthy94963 жыл бұрын
You better not because it is pretty much the truth about it. LA County has over 80000 gangmembers 🤷♂️ Just google "Gangs of Los Angeles 2020" and open the map google gives you, you see that LA is *FULL* of gangs, some of them is over 1000 deep only in streets. If you count pen and dead members to it, numbers go over 1500. Chicago is another city that has tens of thousands members in it.
@therichardgravesgroup47473 жыл бұрын
Chicago's problem is definitely gang related. Kerwin, I would love to come on your show to break down the issues in Chicago.

If statistics matter to him, he needs to apply the 50 million yearly police encounters to the number of deaths that result from them. If peace can be reached through reality, then that stat is more important than stats that clear up any misperceptions about gang members, who are defined by their criminal activity. On a side note, while he was talking about MS13, he must've realized that Pico Union and Hancock Park are world's apart, so he added that they are not far. It's common for students to be transferred to other schools, but let's be clear. His school was not close to the area where MS13 started. The only thing surrounding that school are beautiful multi-million dollar homes of celebrities, politicians, lawyers and successful businesspeople.

@dickmccarthy94964 жыл бұрын
There is many gangs. Starz is basically in Shotgun Crips turf. West of crenshaw there is Hawthorne Family Thug Gangster Crips and west of crenshaw & north of 135 there is Hawthorne Pirus. West of crenshaw there is also mexican gang called Hawthorne Lil Watts 13. East of Starz there is also gangs like Paybacc Crips and Gardena 13.

If you really want to know the truth about gangs in Los Angeles, you have to talk to a real gang member who grew up in that lifestyle, who has his hood in his heart. Not someone who read books about gangs, or only listened to hearsay. I bet that "expert" you're interviewing don't know that Santa Monica has one of the oldest gangs of West Los Angeles? I'm not getting into details, but your guy don't know nothing!!

Alex, really? You sound like an apologist for street gangs. I understand I came up in the Streets too, I know a lot of people that ran with different gangs who are good guys but bro you just dismiss the whole discipline and body of work as anedcotal and basically proposed the ridiculous presupposition that those who engage against organized crime, which street gangs are part of, have nothing significant to bring to the table. Intellectually fraudulent and academically lazy.
